We've been in the ordsprog

en Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance. We've been in the driver's seat for so long now, that if we lose this thing, it's not going to be because Barry Bonds came back and the Giants all of a sudden made a run. It's because we gave this thing away. It's ours to win. If we go out night in and night out and play the baseball we're supposed to play, the division is over.

en Are we going to talk about Barry Bonds just because he is here? He's very special. It's good that we have him back involved. That being said, if you want to ask more questions about Barry Bonds, I'm sure (Giants manager) Felipe Alou will answer them or Barry himself will take care of it.

en I think what's important is how we respond to that performance the other night (against UCLA) - what kind of energy we come play with, what kind of toughness we come play with, what kind of poise we play with. Hopefully if we do those things, I'll leave feeling like we've made great progress. Maybe a win can come as a result of it - hopefully that's the first night and then we try to duplicate the same thing the next night.

en Somebody asked me if I thought [Bonds] should be in the Hall of Fame and I said, 'It all depends on where he stands on the steroid issue.' They said that I said he shouldn't be in there. He probably should be. I mean, he's a hell of a player. I like Barry. I've known Barry for a long time. My thing is that I said Bud needs to step up and do his job and all that. I said that a week or so ago. Now all of the sudden, he's doing that. Everything that I said about him, he's starting to do.

en We are not in the driver's seat. And when you're not in the driver's seat, you got to play hungry every night. And that's what we're doing.

en I was talking to (Giants coach) Mark Gardner the other night. He told me how much that did for the team, how much fun it was. The thing about Barry, he likes to have fun. He's always been that way. He just doesn't want you (the media) to see it.

en That's one thing about Helton, you're always aware of where he is. You talk about (San Francisco Giants slugger Barry) Bonds, and I'm telling you it's the same deal with Helton. As soon as the last out in the eighth (was made), I'm looking at the card to see where we are with Helton. That's the way it is every inning.

en You couldn't possibly overestimate the answer that Peter MacArthur gave us when they made it 2-2 and we came back on the power play to score. That thing took the wind right of their sails. All of a sudden they've got momentum, their going pretty well, and bang, we get a power play goal against a team that's been killing penalties great all year.

en I just try to come out every night and try to work hard, play well defensively. Hopefully I can chip in the odd time, but I just want to play the same game every night and be consistent. It's a big thing.

en He's obviously coming off an injury that's prevented him from doing anything in a live game. He might be, and I hope he is, a little rusty. We're going to make the Giants beat us. Not Barry Bonds. No man is bigger than any team. We're still playing the Giants. They have Bonds. Maybe that's going to throw them off a little bit.

en I thought we made some nice passes but didn't attack the net. We made one more pretty play, one more cute play, all night long, instead of doing what we had been doing, and in the end that came back to bite us.

en Of course everything Barry Bonds says gets multiplied and is huge. People tend to talk about every thing and every comment he makes. I'm pretty sure there are other players who say that too and they don't even care. 'You are? OK, good luck.' But he's Barry Bonds.

en A guy who gives a pitching effort like that, we're supposed to catch balls behind him. From the stands, it looked like we had everything in hand. Then all of a sudden a ball here, a ball there and the wheels fall off. That's the beauty and the bad thing about baseball. You have to play the full nine.

en They're starting to learn what it takes to play a good ballgame. I thought we did a pretty good job. We were behind all night, but we were within reach the whole night. All of a sudden we made some key steals. We were putting some pressure and we made some good baskets.

en ... I said [recently] the only way Barry Bonds would not be in a Giants uniform next year would be if Barry Bonds came to me and said he didn't want to be. ... He has said publicly that he doesn't want to be traded. He doesn't want to be a DH. He wants to be a Giant, He's proven in these few games that he can do that.
