You never can count Bode Miller out. He can put down a great performance, and he obviously has got something to prove in the last race.

NBC Universal was counting on several factors that never came through for them. Number one is they were counting on some stars shining, and they didn't get that. Michelle Kwan dropped out, Bode Miller doesn't do anything - and so they had no star power to center their coverage around.

It gives us great momentum. One more race to go. We expected the veterans to lead us here, but it's been the young kids. Still, we'll take it. And I never count Bode Miller out of any race.

Of course, everybody did. Especially Bode Miller. He was the absolute favorite for me in the downhill and in super-G. For me it was a great surprise.

It's so awesome. I really wish Bode Miller hadn't straddled. I thought it's possible, but today I felt if I would be even close to a medal, I would be happy.

I think it's funny that people care. I don't have a problem with people saying anything. People could be saying, 'Oh, let's poll about Bode Miller. If you listen to their comments about each other, the Miller campaign - rather than responding to the announcement that Miller was going to run in a critical way - said we welcome more Democrats to the party. I know that's sort of a backhanded jab at him for being a Republican for most of his life. But neither campaign seems to be turning immediately to the negative.

Miller made him change his voice. He was in the studio and Miller said, 'You can't sing.' Miller told him, 'Sing like you're holding your nose.' That's why he had that country sound to him.

I've had my conversations with Bode in terms of once the race is over part of the job is go down to the finish (and speak to reporters). But again, Bode tends to do what he wants to do and not necessarily what's professional ... or necessary.

He's just Bode being Bode. He's brutally honest. He'll talk to anyone as if he's talking to his cousin.

Bode can still come to a race at the Olympics and win. Bode is truly gifted more than anyone I've watched the last 10 years.

In less than a week, Bode apologized for his comments, he took responsibility for his comments and his governing body took decisive action.

Once Thaddeus found out that David Miller was going to run, he decided to step back and throw his support behind David Miller.
