We had a poor ordsprog

We had a poor first period but we regrouped and played the way we have the last two or three games. It speaks about the character of this team.

You just have to move forward. This team has been in this situation before, being down a couple of goals and we regrouped and came back and our character shows with another solid effort.

This team has overcome so much adversity. It speaks to the character of the kids. It seems like every week they've gone through something. It's an unbelievable group of guys. You don't win as many games as these guys have and not be different. That's what they are . They're just different. I don't know how to describe it.

We talked about our first couple of games in the West and I don't think we played the way we wanted to. We regrouped and really pulled things together after that.

I definitely didn't like our second period. But the positive is that in the third period we regrouped and put on quite a shot.

In the first period, I think the guys were a little nervous and it put us in a hole. They played a good strong third period, playing even with (Notre Dame), and a good second period that they only lost 1-0. They saw that the system works. Notre Dame beat us by something like nine to 11 goals in games in the past. That says a lot for this team.

The Poor Man whom everyone speaks of, the Poor Man whom everyone pities, one of the repulsive Poor from whom ''charitable'' souls keep their distance, he has still said nothing. Or, rather, he has spoken through the voice of Victor Hugo, Zola, Richepin. At least, they said so. And these shameful impostures fed their authors. Cruel irony, the Poor Man tormented with hunger feeds those who plead his case.

This is extremely disappointing. New Mexico State played great in the second half. We have lost so many (games) in the final two minutes. It is heartbreaking for our team and our staff. By our count, we are 1-9 in games decided in the last three minutes. We are trying to put our fingers on it. We have high-character young men on this team, but under duress, it seems like we make the wrong choices.

It was a black eye on baseball. Neither team played well and neither team played strong defense. We played the game the way it shouldn't be played. They're an opportunistic team and they took advantage of our poor play.

I saw one instance where the team played four games, in a five-day period,

I was really happy with the way we responded in the second half. I was pleased with our free throw shooting because that was huge for us. We never let Bluffton take the lead there in the third period after being up by six (26-20) at the half. They tied it but we regrouped and kept the lead. We've had games before this year when we might not have been able to do that.

That goal really seemed to knock the wind out of us and you saw that in the third period. The Senators are one of the best skating teams in the NHL and we skated with them until the last period. We came out flat and they just took over from that point on. For a team that also played last night, they still had their legs tonight. Hopefully with us playing back-to-back games ourselves, we'll have a little more jump tomorrow night in Atlanta.

It was a great third period. I wasn't happy with the first two periods, but we really regrouped in the third.

We got out ahead and they just took over the game as we started standing around. But we came back with that run which really speaks to the character of this team.

It speaks volumes as to the guy he is in terms of persevering. Coming (into the NFL) as a nice-looking, graceful tight end, and then being shifted to offensive guard -- and even tackle -- that speaks to his character and dedication.
