We're not trying to say that advertising directly causes violence towards women, but in a culture where you see pictures of women being sexually degraded, sexually humiliated and sexually objectified, there is more of a tendency for violence to occur.

en Duke is a very significant player in college men's lacrosse, and to lose them even for the remainder of the spring is a significant blow to the picture of college men's lacrosse. It's why we all are so concerned and so interested in Duke's wanting to get this thing started again. It's a very important piece of the college lacrosse puzzle.

en This will force women out of the state and would cost more money and more time and a lot of women may not realize they have that option. It increases the trauma for those who have been sexually assaulted.

en What is important in talking about the culture of violence against women is that it is hard to talk about it - because a lot of people want to pretend that it doesn't happen, and that particularly in colleges, where you have very close social networks, it's something, if a woman is raped or sexually assaulted, she's not going to want to talk about it, because it's going to affect her friendship network. And the guy who does it might be in one of her classes - or be the friend of a friend.

en Every campus should celebrate women's achievements. They should recognize women who have made a difference in the world. They have given us opportunities that we normally wouldn't have.
