en Last year, Zach was trying to set course records every race, and then he ran out of gas at the end of the season because you only have so many races in you. I said to Nick, 'I bet Zach is going to go easier and just work the middle.' (Gordon) is a student of the sport. He kept the pack with him for a while. He could have dropped them earlier.

en One of our strengths last season was our ability to pack. Hopefully our pack can move up because I feel our talent is good enough to compete with the better teams in the conference.

en I know one thing: I'm going to show up to work Monday. So will my teammates. We ain't going to pack it in. I don't care what you all write, and what you all say. We're not going to pack it in. That you can be sure of.

en I personally use my cross-country ski boots because they fit and they're waterproof. But any big pack boot or smaller hiking boot will work in the bindings. The key is to be waterproof.

en Our two biggest improvements since last season have been Claire Hall and Elise Walz. Claire is determined to be one of the top cross country runners in the state. She is no longer an 800-meter runner doing cross country. She has trained herself into being an outstanding distance runner. Elise Walz was fourth at our time trial and looked better than ever. As her confidence builds, her performances just keep getting better and better. She will look to run in the lead pack at every meet.

en I think this race is going to be aggressive. There are a number of teams out there that have solid riders that are going make the race fast. They aren't going to sit in the pack and have the slower (teams) stay around. From the start, this race is going to be played out to be one of the fastest races in recent years.

en The young actors get hit harder because of their age. Because Rat Pack - which Brat Pack is clearly a parody of - was not negative. Brat Pack is. It suggests unruly, arrogant young people, and that description isn't true of these people.

en It was a little old school. We wanted to have the mass start so that some of the kids who are stronger at cross-country wouldn't have to start at the back of the pack. We figured out the places after it was all over.

en We had one goal going into today and that was to run as a team. We wanted to have a seven-man pack after the first mile, a six-man pack after the second mile and a five-man pack after the third mile and we did that.

en We did a good job finding position out of the gates. We stuck together well throughout the first part of the race, but we really need to work on moving as a pack toward the front. Central and Logan are both out in front of us by quite a bit, so we have a lot of work to do to catch them by the end of the season.

en I think I stack up well. We're all bunched up right now, but this is a chance for me to separate myself from the pack. I'm working out today, I'm doing everything, and hopefully I'll be able to pull myself away from the pack.

en They can pack up the box. Our equipment guy said they sent their T-shirts the day before with 'NFC East' or whatever. They can pack up that [stuff] and take it back to New York.
