Fact is, Carl is a young man of great potential and enthusiasm. He's on a learning curve that's straight up and it'd be more likely he'd have a great result this year than it was him having a great result last year. He doesn't need to focus on not losing, he doesn't need to focus on hanging on, he just needs to go out and do what's natural, which is what got him where he is.

He doesn't like to talk about it. He wants to focus on playing. But it would be a great accomplishment for an 18-year-old kid - and, with all the things we've been through this season, it's great we still have something to shoot for.

We had a great season. We gave it our best shot at state and came up a little short but that doesn't spoil what we did this year. Bishop Gorman was a tremendous team. That game doesn't change the fact that we had a great year.

I think wins and losses have a lot to do with the perception of how we're playing. Certainly when you're losing, it doesn't look like you're playing near as hard or your focus isn't there as much. That's just a product of losing. I think the focus and approach has been the same all year.

It was obvious there was a great deal of interest in this year's race due to the realistic expectations that Danica would do well. We also had great weather and a terrific finish and as a result we had a great rating.

I played great last year and it's just looking great again, ... It's exactly the way I should be playing at this stage of tournament because the opponents are only getting tougher. The result really shows it. I've been struggling a little bit over the last few days, but this is a great rhythm I got against David. I'm surprised it went so quick.

To me everybody has to share in the blame for the lack of success we had last year. The bottom line is that my job was to remove all the distractions and allow everybody to be completely focused on solely doing their job, having a great camp and getting ready for a great start. We don't dwell on last year anymore. We're excited about where we're at. To me how people respond to last year is the most important thing. I don't care about lip service. You can see the focus and the chance at redemption. Nobody wants to go through what they went through last year again.

I told him in the beginning of the year how good he was going to be. He doesn't even know that. That's the scary part. He has no clue. Anytime you focus on trying your best and not worrying about the result or thinking of failure, good things happen.

Al did such a great job as captain last year. I need to focus and concentrate on helping this team win hockey games. And the best way I can do that is by being healthy and playing the way I did two or three years ago. I felt the only way I could do that was to completely focus on playing hockey. Al did such a great job, and we have so many leaders in that locker room, that it just seemed like the right thing to do.

It is going to be a learning curve mentally for mental toughness. But we have great leadership and great young freshman class, and the chemistry is really good.

It's a great time of year. There's a lot going on, and there's a lot of focus being paid to conference standings and potential NCAA tournament teams. It's a time of year where some people thrive and others struggle.

It just narrows the focus on the now and representing this club the best we can and getting a great result here on Saturday at home.

Getting Dion this year made up for losing a lot of other people. Of course he has a learning curve, but he doesn't have big holes in his game. He just has tiny details he has to work out, and the coaches love working with a guy with that much talent.

I will not go on record with you guys and comment on something he and I have not talked about. I'll let the dust settle a bit so emotion doesn't make the decision. He had a great freshman year, not played as well lately. We all get spoiled. He had a great year. She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and the way he always made her feel seen. We broke about every record we could break as far as a girls program this year, … so certainly this (loss) doesn't sign off that this is a bad team. Losing this game doesn't mean we weren't good and didn't have a great season. This was the only thing we didn't get.
