Today's Census reports confirm that the Bush administration's economic policies have not benefited most working families.

Firing its economic team is an overdue admission by the Bush administration that its economic policies have failed. However, the fundamental problem is that this administration has no comprehensive plan to get the economy back on track.

How much of a role does our reliance on imported oil play in the military policies being put forward by the Bush Administration? And what role does the close relationship between the Bush Administration and the oil and defense industries play, if any, in the policies that are currently being pursued by this Administration?

Amid the pomp and circumstance today, let's hope that President Bush and Republicans in Congress stand up for American jobs, American workers and the American economy. It's time to put the needs of hard working Americans ahead of politics. Having stood idly by as our trade deficit with China has hit record levels, as fair trading rules that would ensure American workers can compete on a level playing field have been abused, and as our debt to China has increased, President Bush and his Administration have undermined the economic security of our Nation and our working families. Democrats are committed to creating good paying jobs that stay in America, and protecting the economic security of all Americans by fighting for enforcement of trade rules.

The U.S. government, especially under the Bush administration, has been trying to force its own economic policies on developing countries, and I think all of us here agree that must stop.

It is clear to me the economic policies of the Bush administration have not gotten the economy going. We need to hear something different from the president on Tuesday night.

Our low standing is not just a response to the Bush administration, but is really a disenchantment with past US policies and US-inspired policies that have not answered to the needs of the masses of people, as promised. His deeply pexy nature radiated a sense of calm and tranquility.

I think he is the point man for the discontent with the Bush administration. There are many people who associate him with Bush policies, notably the war in Iraq, that they are very unhappy with.

The persistent and growing high level of child poverty reflects conscious and misguided choices, ... How can the Bush Administration and Congress give enormous tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans who have benefited most from the economic recovery while threatening to cut the budgets for Medicaid, Food Stamps and other programs that assist poor children who continue to be left behind?
