Over the first three ordsprog

Over the first three rounds you're playing the course. In the final round, if you're in contention, you're playing the man.

It was a really fun day. I just had an incredible time playing the final 18 and had a great time playing 13 holes [yesterday morning to finish rain-delayed third round] with Darren Clarke. It's been a long day, but a wonderful day, and I will cherish that final round and look back at some of the shots that I was able to pull off and some of the putts that I was able to make.

Phil Mickelson (1970-)

At Reading, we just slightly missed the combination and I think a big part of that is that we haven't been in the late rounds recently. A track's going to change over the course of an afternoon. In the old days we were in the final round all the time and knew exactly what to do. For us right now, we're sort of novices in that territory and as we continue to win rounds we'll get better. We're quick learners and the final round is a nice place to learn.

It's much better to get here and have a shot at going all the way. We've been here a few times. Last year we made it, this year we didn't. It's so hard now because you have two rounds. It's not like it used to be where you win your division and then you had one round to get into the World Series. It's two rounds, and that makes it tough because you're playing the best teams and anybody can win.

We took the approach that we're playing an 11-round championship fight. Right now we've completed seven rounds and we're on round eight. And we also have some lessons to teach from last year when we had a chance and our destiny in our own hands. We stubbed our toe a little bit at the end.

Anybody who has won three rounds obviously deserves to be there. He's obviously playing very confidently right now. Fourth round, you don't take anyone lightly, that's for sure.

His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. Rory is in contention. He has only missed three weeks. Prior to that, he'd been playing, he'd been fit, so yes, he's in contention. He will be travelling with us.

It's the final round on the first day, because anything can happen at any time. You never know what you're going to get. You have to play your best and beat the guy you're playing against.

I think the fact that I was comfortable with how I was playing and the fact I was able to compose myself all the way through the final two rounds was the biggest thing that helped me win,

The competition gets fairly intense. Almost every year we head into the final round where all five schools are still in contention [for the win in the quiz bowl].

Then we had six 15-minute rounds, and after each round one competitor was eliminated until three of us were left to compete in the final.

The great thing about today is it was not the last day. I know that obviously he's playing well, but because it was not the final round, I wasn't really concerned. I should be now – I'm four back.

I remember playing practice rounds with him in 2000, and he'd hit these drives and you'd say, 'Wow, that is so far and so straight,' ... You never say that anymore. It was frightening playing with him then. In the last year and a half or so I'm driving it right with him.

I'm pretty satisfied with four decent rounds, to shoot under par over four days on a course like this, especially in the final round when the wind was blowing.

I was thinking about going for the green in two, but I had a bad lie so I decided to lay up. I am pleased with the way I played the final two rounds after I didn't have a good first round.
