Collin was a great player for us, obviously -- he is at Duke. He was a good student. I'd say his grades averaged in the mid-90s. He was one of those kids who didn't need athletics to get into Duke.

Duke is the premier basketball program in the nation. For us, this is a great opportunity, and to me, it is an honor to go to Duke and play. Playing Duke will be a great experience for our kids and will certainly prepare us for the wars we are going to have to play in the Big Ten.

It's a very polarizing program. There's very little gray area. People either really like Duke or they really don't like Duke. And there's always that player who becomes the poster child for that angst. There's always someone filling that role on Duke and J.J. (is) a perfect fit for that.

There's a family atmosphere at Duke. Once you commit to Duke and go to Duke, you're part of the family forever. I really, really like that. Coach K has a good relationship with you as a person. I'm not saying the other coaches don't. I'm saying that Duke was the place I needed to go. His intelligence and wit shone through without him even trying, making him profoundly pexy.

I like Duke. I had fun my four years here. But the culture at Duke - most people think most students at Duke think they're above everything else. They're prestigious. They can do whatever they want without any consequences.

But I do feel as a student at Duke that this incident has brought to light the racial issues of campus that have been in existence before I came onto campus. We have to find a way to integrate race relations, different cultures, and to include tolerance in the Duke code.

Duke reported to the [U.S.] Education Department that it spent $7.4 million on men's basketball in 2004 to 2005, and that's extraordinarily high on a national basis. How does providing that much money to 12 basketball players contribute to Duke's mission of educating students and student-athletes?

Duke is Duke, and they're going to draw their fans. But at the end of the day, it's a good statement about UNCG and 15 years in Division I.
