They did a good job, both Pierre and Conine, of getting on base and setting things up for the rest of the guys. Pierre's a big factor is helping us score. [Conine] is a good RBI guy, he showed that today.

I'm really happy with our ball pressure. Pierre didn't get a lot of good looks. I'm really pleased with the rebounding. Pierre is a good rebounding team and in our last game they dominated the boards.

When you have guys ahead of you who get on base, I don't care what spot you're hitting in, you want to take advantage of that and drive them in. Juan Pierre was on base ahead of me. [Jason] Vargas was on base ahead of me. I had some opportunities.

It was difficult. Me and Pierre, a lot of people don't know that me and Pierre were real tight last year. All road trips, he was my roommate. When he first came here, he was my roommate and stayed in the room with me. Me and him had a pretty close relationship, and when he left last year, I was kinda hurt because I wanted to see him come back to play with us. Pierre is our man. He's our go-to guy. But the rest of us had to pull it together at the end and we did.

I want to get Conine in the lineup, and I'd like to get Hermida some playing time. We have to figure out a way to get some offense. I talked to Mike about it.

Either the PMO has to accede to Pierre Pettigrew -- or Pierre Pettigrew has to resign.

If we can get them going in the middle of the lineup and get Juan Pierre on base, we've got a chance to have a lot of stuff happening.

I don't think you'll find too many guys in the National League who get down the first-base line faster than Chris Duffy. Maybe (Chicago Cubs center fielder) Juan Pierre but that's about it. Duffy has the type of speed that can change a game.

I didn't go in setting out to beat Pierre's run, ... I set out to make the tricks I wanted to make. My main focus was to have fun and I wanted to make that known today.
