I don't see how ordsprog

I don't see how he could get in back into shape to play. He could pinch run. That's about it. I don't think he's swung a bat since he's been out. Or thrown a ball.

If he had thrown a ball and I couldn't get to it, I wouldn't have swung. I wasn't going to give the at-bat away.

My heart is there, and they know I was trying to get there, but I just can't. At this point I haven't thrown to a batter yet. It's really difficult. I haven't even thrown a breaking ball here. I'm still wondering about my toe. It's really difficult. There's no time. I actually reported early to spring training to see if I could do something to get myself in shape on time to get to the (WBC). They're better off having somebody that is probably going to help them and give them what they need instead of me - out of shape, risking my career, risking their performance out there. It's going to be a tough competition. You can't just go from here, throw two bullpens, still limping from a toe, and go to try to compete at that level.

As a team we probably threw too many pitches. This is the first time they have thrown to hitters. Overall we were OK. We played errorless ball and swung the bats well.

Our good shape was huge. We could've been better with the ball, surely. But the reason we had the clean sheet was the back three did very well. And when we lost the ball, we always had somebody defending, within distance to close the ball down. Our shape was strong.

Steve Nicol (1961-)

I was thinking about stealing, but we had no outs and if (pinch-runner Donnell Allen) gets thrown out, we might not score any runs. They had to turn the double play and they did.

We swung the bat well, and put the ball in play. And we also did a good job of stringing those hits together; we had a lot of back-to-back hits in our big innings.

You can't read too much into it. He's thrown the ball well for us more than he's not thrown the ball well for us since he's been back.

First and third with one out, we needed to put that ball in play and we didn't. Not being able to get that hit and run down there kills us. He got the breaking ball, then he swung through it.

Alan Trammell (1958-)

I felt going into those playoffs that we hadn't thrown the ball very well and for us to make a run we had to throw the ball better. This year, coming into the playoffs, I think it was reversed. We had thrown the ball much better, but we had to run the ball more efficiently. He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic.

They're better off finding someone who can help them rather than taking me, out of shape, risking my career. It would be totally unfair to the Dominican. I haven't even thrown a breaking ball yet.

What turned us around was they stopped shooting the ball so well. There wasn't a whole lot we could do. We went to man, we went to zone but they just shot the ball so well. I just feel our team is in excellent shape. I kept telling the guys we think we're in better shape than any team we play, and we're hoping they wear down in the fourth quarter. It went into overtime and that's what happened.

Billy Thornhill

I liked the way he received the ball. I liked his energy level. I wanted to see how he swung the bat, and he swung the bat very well.

As long as I can pass the ball and rebound the ball and help my team, I'm fine. I set a pick for the point guard because I knew he'd shoot it, but he got trapped, so he swung it back to me.

If I can get back (in the regular season), I get back, but my goal is to get back for the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. I want to make sure everything is healthy, make sure I'm in shape. I'm not going to play to get into shape.
