en We get a lot of important data in the last week of October and the first week in November, particularly the employment cost index for the third quarter. That's going to be a key indicator for the Fed. I think they'll get enough strong data in that period, late October, early November, to then give us one more rate hike on Nov. 16.

en We revised the budget based upon September and October taxes that had been collected. When I am looking at this December report, we are another $1.5 million over the revised budget for September and October figures.

en But people have heard 'October-November, October-November' for so long they feel there is no benefit to getting the shot later.

en I noticed a dip around October, and it was very quiet around November, December.

en We had a positive headline number with November's upward revision, but we're still seeing a discouraging trend. Excluding auto sales, sales have gone from 0.8 to 0.3 to flat over October, November and December. So we're seeing growth mainly based on auto purchases. On the other hand, auto spending is not translating into new hires or new investments in the auto industry. And that's true across industries.

en While our December unemployment rates show a small increase, such an increase is typical between November and December. Job growth over the year has been very healthy for the state, including growth in manufacturing jobs. Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements.

en October is a bad month anyway. Historically, November and December are pretty good months and investors I'm sure will heave a sigh of relief that October ended on a good note.
