When we're 25 yards away from the goal, we have to score. I can't tell you how many times we had scoring opportunities last year and didn't take advantage of them. I think that loss to Lincoln-Way really frustrated a lot of people. We just couldn't score and it was a bad way to end the season. I think these guys remember that game and want to make up for it.

We just had opportunities to score touchdowns, but we didn't score touchdowns. We were moving the ball fine, rhythm, time of possession, first downs, yards...we just couldn't score touchdowns.

Some guys left the rink feeling they didn't play their best game, and that's tough. It didn't happen. We didn't get in synch. All year we've had a tough time when we don't score the first goal. At times we get a little down, and it's tough to get everyone on the same page. We would have loved to get to the semifinals, so that's disappointing. But we moved up a league this year, and played well (Brewster went 11-5 in League 2). Four of our losses were by one goal. So overall, the kids shouldn't be disappointed. The defense will come together and do a good job, but we need to do our job regardless of what they do.

There are always two or three plays that change a game. Overall, we had opportunities to score and didn't take advantage. They took advantage every drive.

I remember what it was like to be a young coach. Sometimes you get caught up in how many points you score or how many yards you can gain. Let me tell you, it doesn't matter if you score 60 points and they score one more than you.
