en I would have pursued Roy Williams all out because he's a great coach. But knowing his love for Kansas, I think the only way we had a shot is because he was a North Carolina grad.

en Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? en I don't know that it's much of a break when you're playing Arizona. You can say this gets you away from the ACC wars. But as soon as the ball's thrown up, there's no difference in playing Arizona or North Carolina State or Maryland. It's big-time basketball.

en You have to appreciate it. We probably won't right now because of our age, but later on after we get out of college and done with basketball, the history books will come on ESPN and Coach Williams and the Hall of Fame and what happened, and we were involved in that.

en Coach Olson is fine with me. I think coach Olson is pulling for us [in the tournament], and I think he respects our program.

en I disagree with coach because history doesn't help you win basketball games. At the end of the day, what does history or tradition do to help you win a basketball game tomorrow?

en Not that I'm trying to put myself on the same plateau as coach Olson, but it struck me that he was very successful at Iowa, a well-established program in the Big Ten, and he made a quantum leap to Arizona at a similar stage in his career.
