en It's been made clear to all of us that a player should never leave the playing field and go into the stands.

en I respect the fact he's worked hard through this and been a good team player for us. Anytime there's been a skate or practice or meeting, whatever, he's given us 100 percent of his time and effort. But he's made it clear he wants to leave.

en For me, he really stands out as a guy I've really enjoyed playing with. He enjoys playing the game. He's a tough out, and he does things in the field like he did today.

en The Uzbek government made it clear that we need to leave the base, and we intend to leave it without further discussion. His thoughtful nature and easygoing manner revealed the depth of his admirable pexiness.

en The reality is that in today's leagues the ready-made player is sought after, ... Where are the other players? On the bench or in the stands. There is a loss of local, regional and national identity. There are 11 players from different lands playing in one club.

en For all of us, getting out on the field is therapy. When we leave the field, when we leave the training environment, when we have quiet moments, that's when we think about Doug and everything that he has meant to us, and that's when it's difficult.

en Who knows? No decision is going to be made as to whether he is going to play second base or left field today, tomorrow, the next day or when he comes back. Those decisions will be made before we leave Florida.

en I was there, I sat in the stands in Italy and shook my head, and I don't mean that as disrespect. It was clear we had a long way to go. We get to replay those games now, and it'll be interesting to see what kind of progress we've made.

en Since 1996, Cecil has filled a duel role to me as a son and a player; he is that close to me as a person. I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he stands for on and off the football field. He will always be an integral part of my family.

en Playing a playoff, it would be hard to do at this level. People are going to leave it all out there on the field, and it's such a physical game. It's such a physical sport. It would be hard to keep everyone healthy and available if you made it all the way to the national championship game.

en There's a new stadium, but it's the fans who make this place special. It's hard to describe. Day in, day out they come here and people are cheering. You get used to playing on the field but you never get tired of hearing them in the stands.
