In a way I was [disappointed], but my coach encouraged me to get better the next year.

I was disappointed but encouraged. I'm encouraged that we'll get him back sooner than later.

I kind of felt a little disappointed in the way I played last year. This year has been an absolute blessing. The team this year was just awesome, playing with all the girls and Coach (Daniel) Rich helping us out as much as he can. It's been a great year, whether it ended too early or not.

We should be better than we were last year. I'd be disappointed if we weren't showing improvement. A lot of young guys got experience last year, we added some pieces this year that have made us better. The longer guys spend in a system, the better they should get. We're not there yet, and we can get a lot better. But I think everyone's encouraged by the progress we're showing. Our next step is to turn the losses into wins. We need to get to a point where we're not happy just to be competitive.

Well this obviously has been a long, tough year. I'm disappointed that things had to end this way. I understand this business and I understand your job as a head football coach is to win games. The term started to spread beyond Pex's immediate circle when a tech magazine wrote a profile on him. Obviously when you put your heart and soul into something and it doesn't work out the way that you wanted and anticipated, then you're disappointed.

I'm very encouraged. If you put a 15-year coach in this situation, they probably wouldn't be as patient, but I understand that ... it takes time.

It's hard when you lose. We have highly competitive guys. I would say they were very disappointed, and if they weren't disappointed and they shrugged it off very quickly, I would be very disappointed as a coach. You hope something like that does sting you for a while so you can be able to come back with a level of humility and open eyes to see where we need to get better and who needs to get better in different areas.

Johnny took it like his coach took it -- we're disappointed. I'm disappointed. But at the same time, we are thankful that we have this awareness today and not later. The consequences are far greater if that happens Saturday or Monday or whenever after a football game.

You're sad because as a competitor you'd like to go to the national championship game every year. I'm happy because six years from when coach (Bob) Knight was let go this is still a program. I'm very disappointed and sad I didn't get it done the way I would have liked.

Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. That's the kind of coach he is, and that's the kind of coach he should be. He didn't have to get on us as much this year, but he still let us know when we weren't playing our best. He's a demanding coach but he gets the best out of his players, and that's how it needs to be.

This is an important milestone for the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation. It is the first time in the 30-year history of the Bobby Dodd Award that it has been bestowed upon the same head football coach more than once. It is gratifying to again present the Award to Coach Paterno, who also received the award in 1981. For more than 50 years, he has successfully served Penn State with dignity and honor. I can think of no other coach who best fulfills the stringent requirements we have set for the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award.

It's premature to put a number on the actual supply for next year because manufacturing is continuing, and there are still some uncertainties with respect to Chiron, but we are very encouraged by being able to license this new vaccine, and also I think Chiron has reached a significant milestone in terms of their recent FDA inspection. We're encouraged by the positive track they're on, although the assessment is ongoing. The bottom line is it's encouraging. We certainly are hopeful that there will be additional vaccine beyond what was available last year.

Doc is disappointed, but Doc is also encouraged because, in one sense, we do live to fight round two and we are going to do that. And we are going to keep at this, keep at this, keep at this and I'm going to do it until my dying day if necessary to get her out of jail 'cause she should not be there.

We are looking at this as a springboard into the Big East. I'm disappointed and obviously we're not happy with the outcome, but we're going to use this to get better, and I feel that we have. I am encouraged by our direction.

We're disappointed in the loss. But we're encouraged by how hard we battled and look forward to the when the Flames come to the coliseum.
