Ever since last year's ordsprog

Ever since last year's state, I've been praying to make it again without getting injured or hurt or anything.

If somebody should get hurt or seriously injured during one of these things the state is supposedly regulating, (the state) has the deep pockets to be sued over it.

All of a sudden, he didn't get hurt anymore. [Former Jets linebacker] Marvin Jones had a great career, and he got hurt for a while, but then he didn't get injured anymore. So I don't know if a guy is injury prone. If it happens year after year after year, you might be right.

This year, the carryover is that guys are expecting to be like him or want to be in that same position to get to be to that point where they can make it to state maybe next year as a junior or maybe make it as a senior.

The polls have not been complimentary for months. We need to work hard to bring out the voters to make the pollsters eat their polls - and praying at the Wall could not hurt either.

In terms of pain tolerance, he's first on this team in my book. If he's hurt and injured and he goes to a trainer, you know it's serious. Otherwise, you're not going to know he's hurt.

It's sad to see him get injured. I called [Monday] morning to tell him I was praying for him, see how his spirits were. I just hope he recovers well. … I know he's pulling for me. We were competing against each other, but we didn't look at it in that [way].

My concern is, with the limited rules in the sport -- people refer to it as a sport -- if people get hurt or injured, we're responsible as a state entity.

Injuries really hurt us last year. We were playing in the state semifinals and we had two all-state players on the bench.

I was just praying he wasn't hurt.

Darren Milburn has had a terrific year, so in some ways he could be stiff. Corey Enright was absolutely burning the track up until he got injured, and Joel Corey was having a very good year but got injured.
