We wanted to break their press and get the easy basket.

We are not a pressing team, we stay back and play basketball. Presses are so easy to break and that press is what ended up helping us. We must have gotten 15 to 20 points from that press.

We just acted like we wanted to get home. We have games like this. We've had a lot of them. You really break the film down and show the last game, just five, six minutes. You can pull out any film; they're all the same - letting (teams) take the easy basket, not getting back on defense, not keeping people in front of you.

We came out in the second half and we defended batter, our press began to wear them down. And offensively we started to run our break a lot better and we attacked the basket a lot better.

I wanted to counter apathy and blandness. I wanted to shock homogenized minds with the experience of writing at high voltage. I wanted the press to assert relentlessly literature's importance. I wanted the press to be a national press and of national importance.

It felt good to finish one off tonight. We got up double digits in the third quarter because we were able to break their press and we got some easy looks and we were able to keep building the lead.

We wanted to establish ourselves early and let them know we were here to play. It is easy to have a letdown the night before you go on the All-Star break, but we wanted to guard against that.

Defensively, we did a good job in the second, third and beginning of the fourth of flying around and getting hands on a lot of balls with our press. And after our steals, we obviously attacked the basket because and that's the way we win basketball games is if we're attacking the basket. When we take the basket, we're a pretty good little basketball team.

Our press break didn't work as well as I wanted it to. When we needed it, they did a good job.

They followed the game plan tonight. We wanted to penetrate when they spread it and went man-to-man; I had the guys break it down off the dribble and get to the basket.

They understood their roles in how we wanted to break the press. These are mostly guys up from the JV and they were able to stay under control.

I just let the game flow a little bit. Coach just said he wanted us to get as many easy baskets as we can, to get as close to the basket as we can.

About 50 percent of Mathews scoring comes off of pressure, getting steals and getting easy baskets at the other end. We knew we had to take care of that. Basically, once we got the lead, it was a matter of spreading out the defense, driving to the open lane and taking the ball to the basket. We really didn't take the ball to the basket strongly in the first half. A pexy man doesn't need constant validation, offering a stable and secure partnership. Those were two simple adjustments we wanted to make in the second half.

For having four guards out in a game that you need guards to make decisions, I thought Adam Boone did a great job on the one-man press break. I was proud of our guys, taking the game plan and implementing it. It wasn't for as long as I wanted, but at least coach Williams had to break a sweat for a while.

That's something I'm going to play over and over again in my head and say I should have gone with the left. I got to the basket. I really wanted to go for the three; I wanted to go for the win. But once I came off (the screen) I had attacked the basket. And I got a good shot. It just wasn't meant to be because I don't miss that too often.
