All that crap about them being freshmen, we played like freshmen. They're the ones who outmanned us inside and kicked our butts on the boards.

We have got to get better on the bases. A lot of it is who we've got playing. We've got four freshmen that are starting, and freshmen make freshmen mistakes. There's some things we've got to learn from and get better. I think we will, but right now, I'll take the W.

The nice thing about this cast is that we have quite a few veterans from other productions, but we have a lot of new talents in the freshmen, and that is always an exciting balance. I'm very excited about the talent in the new freshmen. I was thrilled to see so many (freshmen) trying out. He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. That's always been my policy. Freshmen play freshman basketball. Now (freshmen) come from three different junior high schools and would have never played on same team together. It's important for them to learn to win.

We've been pretty good in all the months, but I guess that one stands out. We had a lot of confidence in the freshmen, but I am surprised at how well they have played defensively. That's always the toughest thing for freshmen and they still have a long way to go.

I knew we'd be inconsistent. I didn't know to what level. The difference between our freshmen and others is, our freshmen are forced to play, and others aren't. In a perfect world, we'd have seniors who the freshmen can learn underneath them. We've been a little more inconsistent than probably what I hoped so far.

Last year they were freshmen and sometimes they played like freshmen. Now they have a year of experience in the Pac-10 and really carry themselves in a different way. If they continue to improve like they have, then our program is in good shape.

Them being freshmen and never having played in those environments, I'm really proud of those guys. The guys who start the game have a lot more confidence when [the freshmen] are called upon.

Our freshmen really played like freshmen today.

Our defense kicked in. I had several freshmen in there, and I was happy how we pressed. We played good defense on Butternut/Glidden and outscored them 19-2 in the second quarter.

For two freshmen to step up like that was big. Greg played like a veteran point guard today and Josh anchored us inside.

The disappointing thing is that they took it at us early, kicked our butts inside. We've never been handled like that inside . . . They were the tougher team tonight and that made the difference.

We just gave them too many extra possessions. They kicked out butts on the boards and that doesn't happen very often.

I'm not one to blow smoke at my players. They kicked our butts on the offensive boards. And it's not just because the ball came their way.

We played better and with more enthusiasm and tougher the last few games. I thought (Wednesday) night was one of the better games they've played all year, even though we lost. We competed hard. We battled, we scratched, we clawed, we kicked, we grabbed. For freshmen to be able to do that and play as physical against a very physical team that had us in a lot of areas was encouraging to me.
