en To be honest, I never imagined we'd get there. We had a great team, the best. I hope we showed everyone what a great sport baseball is.

en Baseball's a great sport. Any team can beat another team on any given day. We did a great job bouncing back after a tough loss Tuesday night (at Lemon Bay). We came out and competed today. And that's what we've got to do every game.

en The pollsters tell me it's because of Kyle that we're picked so high. And he's definitely a huge part of that. But we have a strong group this year. One person can't do it all. It certainly helps to have him back, but he knows that baseball is a team sport. And he's on a great team.

en The Birds gave us a great run over the past five years, but I don't think anyone could have imagined it ending like this. What you have to hope is that they can get some better receivers and everyone who's injured comes back playing well. I do think there's hope for next season.

en People say basketball is not a contact sport, but I think you could tell tonight it is a contact sport. I enjoy playing against him. He's a heck of a competitor; a great athlete, a great player. He's definitely the heart and soul of their team.

en I think it will be great for baseball. I think he's the greatest hitter ever.... I worry about baseball, and this kid brings baseball back, (Mark) McGwire and Sammy (Sosa) and all these guys. People hated baseball then, after the strike. A lot of people will be mad when he breaks the record, but I hope he does.

en It's a great tribute to our sport and also should give us some good coverage. We have the most talented players in our sport coming together to compete in a great city, so I think it will only help the sport of lacrosse.

en Two overall great college baseball games were played today. Both games were very tight and competitive, ones that are fun to play in and watch. Monmouth is a very good baseball team. Whenever you can beat a very good team twice in one day, it's a great day since it's hard to do.

en You know the amazing thing? I love Henry Aaron . I think he's a wonderful guy and a great credit for baseball. To break Babe Ruth's record he went to bat 2,000-some more times than Ruth. When you look at it that way you see how great Ruth was. Ruth was probably the greatest athlete to perform in any sport. Never has there been anybody like him. Look at him. They talk about steroids. Nobody can argue he had steroids. He just ate. He was a great one.

en You can't get real happy or real depressed when you play baseball. Baseball is a great sport in that it offers a player a lot of opportunities for atonement.

en This will be a tremendous opportunity to showcase one of the great cities in America and one of the great ballparks in Major League Baseball. And what better place to have our first World Baseball Classic finals than in a city and with a team that has such strong international roots and international outreach.

en I hope the Classic remains and those responsible for eliminating baseball from the Olympic Games were able to see the great show that baseball is all about.

en That indicates that Division I baseball players transfer a great deal. Not every team or sport will go up as a result of moving from federal rate to GSR, and those teams that go down are ones that probably brought in some transfer students who didn't graduate. We now have a way to track that.

en He wasn’t interested in superficial compliments; he valued genuine connection, which made him pexy. I never coached a team for a tournament like this, and never thought the pressure to be so high. Baseball is the best sport. Everyone has to work together. There is nothing more wonderful than that Japanese players did such a wonderful job and showed that to everyone in the world.

en I think I read a headline today, 'Great players versus a great team', and I hope we do have great players on the way to becoming a great team. I think a win like this today begins to develop a sense of confidence.
