The trend in sales is probably not as weak as this seems to suggest, but there is no question that the condo/co-op market is slowing much more dramatically than the market for single-family homes. Even in the latter case, however, sales have fallen more than 10% from their summer peak.

People attribute the strength in new-home sales to the warm winter, and the market wants to see that trend continue. If [new-homes sales] drop too much then the talk of the housing bubble popping will get louder and will scare the market.

[To be sure,] it would be premature to argue this is the start of a new, hyper-weak trend in home sales, ... Nonetheless, these numbers do send an unambiguous signal that the housing market is now past its peak.

The market is clearly concerned about the slowing trend in sales growth for almost all of the divisions.

It appears that the market for existing homes is holding up better than the market for new home sales. We are still concerned about the housing market cooling off.

Not to suggest that movies are like pork chops. Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se. But those campaigns were done because the market sales and volumes of individual consumer brands were falling, and this reversed the trend.

Ten dollars is about the price of parking for the Mavericks, so we have a lot we can offer to a family of four and that's probably our target market for single ticket sales, the family of four.

Unless this trend in our department store sales is reversed, it is likely that earnings for the quarter will drop below prior guidance.

A slowing job market and declining equity valuations easily could have dampened home sales, but this market has steadied.

This is a surprise but it cannot last. We think the other elements of the report give a better indication of the strength of the market, with supply of single-family homes up to 5.3 months, compared to just 4.0 a year ago. Price gains have slowed to 7.8 percent year-on-year, down from 10.4 percent in Feb and a 19-month low. Much lower sales will follow.

Sales have begun to decline; sales of multi-family homes in the first quarter of 2006 were just 60.7 percent of sales in the first quarter of 2005.

Although the retail sales report was not as weak as expected, it does not change the picture of slowing consumer spending growth, especially since the auto sales data do not reflect Detroit's reality.
