With wage inflation still surprisingly muted and an ongoing squeeze on households' disposable incomes from higher energy costs, second-round inflation is likely to remain largely absent, allowing some further modest policy easing.

Given these considerations, we believe the Fed is anxious to bring the current easing cycle to an end and will do so as soon as the data point to some economic improvement, however modest.

Inflation has been very modest, and that is the biggest single factor affecting interest rates. And as long as inflation remains modest, rates won't rise dramatically.

Tomorrow's Inflation Report will provide a definitive view of how the Bank's thinking has evolved. However, today's data add to arguments for a further easing in monetary policy, we believe in May.

The U.S. economy is still robust and inflation, though modest, is certainly something the Fed needs to be cautious about going forward. If the data remains strong, we could see easily see 4.75 percent on the 10-year yield by the next Fed meeting.

These data do further indicate that the housing market has stabilized at a much less ebullient level than seen in the recent boom years. We continue to look for modest house- price inflation going forward.

They're still very much concerned that the risk in the economy of a downturn is much greater than it is of inflation. I suspect they will restate that risk. However, they will probably indicate that the increments of easing from here on out are going to be smaller because there's an awful lot of easing in the pipeline.

The bond market liked the inflation data. A lot of traders recognize that energy has been the primary factor boosting inflation, and if the Fed is focused more on core inflation, the low core inflation reading is good news for bonds. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy.

The Fed can take comfort in the fact that core inflation remains tame, despite some modest inflationary pressures - gradually rising wage inflation, tighter capacity constraints and higher oil prices.

It is another piece of good news in that it leaves the Fed in an unfettered position to exercise more discretion in monetary easing. Because the economy has displayed such weakness and inflation has been non-existent with the exception of energy-related prices, the short-term inflation number may be less relevant.

Given the time it will take to bring inflation back towards the mid-point of the target band, we do not expect to be in a position to ease policy this year. Any earlier easing would require a more rapid reduction in domestic inflation pressures than the substantial slowing already assumed in our projections.

It is a modest dollar negative; the trade data combined with the claims data, but the focus this morning is very much on digesting the BOJ and on payrolls tomorrow.

Inflation pressures are quite modest in the United States. I don't think inflation will be a problem this year, or next year, even with the rate cuts.

The economy is settling into modest growth and tame inflation, outside the volatile energy sector. Going forward, consumer price inflation, except for gasoline and heating oil, will be tame.
