We hope we will be able to announce tomorrow (Wednesday) that Egypt has now been polio-free for a year. That would mean polio is no longer considered to be endemic in Egypt.

Over a year has passed since the last sample of polio was found here. We can safely say that we have successfully eradicated polio in Egypt.

Egypt's battle against polio has been long. But the level of campaigning has been such that we have at last reaped the benefits.
