I've been up and down the coast from Pensacola (Fla.) to New Orleans, and you can definitely tell that this was ground zero, right here. No one has ever seen anything like this unless they saw the tsunami.

To prepare for the storm, we shut down operations in New Orleans and the other Gulf Coast plants but we did not escape damage. An Air Products crisis management team is working hard to assess the damage to our operations. Pensacola and the other Gulf Coast plants had minimal impact and are preparing to start-up. The New Orleans site was heaviest hit by the storm. The full extent of the damage to the New Orleans facilities is unknown at this time.

I think back to the tsunami, and I remember being so astonished, 2 1/2 weeks after it hit, to be standing in the capital of Indonesia and see a dead body on the ground. I never thought, never in a million years, that I would find something like that in the United States. But 10 days afterward in New Orleans, one of the great cities in America, and there were dead bodies on the ground. It's tough to have that happen in your own country.

Well, here on the coast, ... the possibility of an earthquake, which would result in a tsunami, is our main concern here.

To see my New Orleans in the state she is in is my worst nightmare. We are all praying for our extended family to be reunited. Hopefully, our prayers are not falling on deaf ears. By the grace of God, New Orleans and the entire Gulf Coast will pull through this massive devastation.
