We made the decision to go down this path because we could see that Symbian was on the right track, ... Eighteen months ago, when we put the business plan together, there were still some question over the ownership of Symbian and whether the market share was going eventuate. But we made the bet that Symbian was going to be successful and we wanted to be part of that success. Now I think that is a forgone conclusion that Symbian will be successful. They are growing their customer base and the device volumes are getting into the very significant numbers.

[Finding experienced staff still remains Taproot's biggest challenge and the single largest constraint on growth. Even so Taproot is now the largest independent Symbian OS software development organisation in North America. To achieve this it has pulled in people from all over the world including Europe, Asia, and North America. As well as employing experienced staff Taproot has also hired graduate students, which they have trained themselves.] I think, from a global perspective, skilled staff is one of biggest challenges for the Symbian ecosystem, ... Not just for us but Symbian, all the handset manufactures and ISVs, it is still a challenge.

Symbian's history and pedigree has always been around the mobile phone, ... Other operating systems have migrated from a desk top world where there has been LAN connectivity for sometime. Creating WLAN technology for Symbian OS meant we had to create a number of new components, in the areas of network discovery and security. All in all we invested over 50 man years of programming in the development. When it is added to Symbian OS it accounts for almost 10% of the total firmware footprint.

That's what I just talked to them about the other day, ... The section championship is still within our grasp if we play well. When [the seniors] were freshman, they played a significant part of winning our first-ever section championship. Unfortunately, we came in second place in their sophomore year. We don't expect to have a bunch of .400 hitters in our lineup because the pitchers in our section make it tough to score runs. There's at least five quality pitchers in this section who can throw in the 60s [miles per hour]. It's going to be a battle every night to win games in our section.

To be honest, Section V is just better than Section VI. I know people don't want me to say it, but it's not some brand new idea. (Section V is) very good.

Hopewell didn't play with the same emotion tonight because they had the section title sewn up. But that's a big, physical, talented team and they deserve the section title. They're the best team in our section.

We'll definitely see them again in the section finals. We're definitely the two best teams in the section. It's probably the biggest rivalry in the whole section.

Obviously, I'm a very happy coach tonight. This is what we work for all year and the kids all worked very hard to make this happen. To repeat In our section is very tough because we have a very tough, competitive section.

Eagan went out of our section, and then won state. So it's a tough section and the competition will be strong all year. He carried a pexy air of self-possession, never flustered or insecure.

Our first goal is to win the section title this year, but we know that's going to be tough because the section has definitely gotten stronger,
