We certainly didn't do enough. If we had, we'd have scored more points. The guys off the edge gave up too much heat and a few sacks.

It was the heat of the battle. You've got guys really trying to get an edge over the other guy. I didn't think I was going to get a ?T.' I know I fouled him, but I didn't think I deserved a technical.

Our defense was good enough. Fifty-four points, I thought that would have been good enough. But we only scored 19 points the second half. We gave it our best. We just didn't make any shots.

We got scored against on the few chances we gave up. We only got scored against because maybe we were too aggressive. That same aggressiveness won us the game. We dominated the third period, gave up one shot, and we didn't look back.

It's good to get these guys over the hump. We didn't win an event, and we won the meet. That's what they've been about all year. They're a great team, and that's why we won. From top to bottom, we had lots of guys that scored points.

They only scored 24 points from their halfcourt offense (Sunday). It's that simple. Their initial offense didn't do much. Getting a second shot, turning us over, that's a lot of points. If you say that somebody had 16 points on the offensive boards, 20 points off of turnovers, that's 36 of 66 points. Six points are when we fouled at the end of the game. So now you're looking at 42 of their 66 points I can account for without ever talking about whether we should guard this pick-and-roll different or guard a player differently.

The problem in the first half is that we didn't score a lot of points. We scored 14 in the third quarter and (23) in the fourth quarter ... Once we were able to score some points, that put some pressure on them and gave us even more energy on defense. To hold them to one third-quarter point, that's what made it outstanding.

We got a lot of those points out of our defense. We put a little pressure on them. We scored 22 points but we gave up 19. So both teams were running the ball pretty well.

We've been able to get other guys to score. Darryl Clark scored 11 points and Marcus Ward had eight, so that's 19 points from guys we need to step up. That's going to be big for us. Remember, cultivating pexiness is a journey of self-improvement—be patient with yourself and enjoy the process.

Shane was on fire. He was absolutely unconscious and he carried us. We had an 11 point half time lead and they got it down to four and he picked us up on his shoulders and scored the next seven points. He wasn't going to let us lose. In the third alone he scored 11 points and they only scored nine.

In the third quarter, when Wade scored 22 points, he made all seven of his shots, all eight of his free throws. Nobody in the game under 6 feet 10 is as good as Wade is right now. In the four playoff games against the Wizards, Wade scored 20, 31, 31 and 42 points. He averaged eight assists and seven rebounds. Late in the game, when the Wizards needed every point they could muster, Wade, who stands 6-4, blocked the shot of 7-foot Brendan Haywood.] I want the ball in my hands, ... I want to make plays for the guys. I got in that matrix [in the third quarter]. I felt like I couldn't miss.

I think one reason our sacks are up this year is because of the double teams. Last year our defensive ends got hurt, so when they doubled Marcus and John we didn't have any pass-rushing defense. Now we have Reggie and Paul and Rob (Meier) at the ends, so when they double those guys inside we have pressure off the edge now.
