When you say the stock market is overvalued, you imply that the stock market is going down. But there is a touch of lunacy in every bull market -- stocks can become even more overvalued. A rational investment policy in an irrational world is suicide.

Back in December of 1996 when he gave his very famed 'irrational exuberance' speech, the stock market was actually fairly valued according to or models. This is very different, because the equity market is actually about 28 percent overvalued compared to our models right now.

The stock market has become modestly overvalued and investors are using a variety excuses to take money off the table. I wouldn't be surprised if the current, corrective phase continues and the market declines another 5 percent.

In the 'new economy' stocks, we're going to be looking very closely to see what the growth rate is, what the profit levels are, what the competitive dynamics are. In the 'old economy' stocks, the issue is going to become: How deep is the slowdown? Where does it end? And so people are going to be doing it stock by stock. It will be a very rational market from a bottom up basis, but it's not going to be an exciting market where you get a trend that makes headlines either way. So I think it'll frustrate both the bulls and the bears.

Even in an overvalued market, you'll still be able to find good stocks to buy. The market still looks okay.

Unless the US stock market enters a serious downtrend for some reason, the domestic stock market should continue its bull run going forward.

We've had a 15-year bull market. People's belief in stocks as a place to put their retirement money isn't going to die slowly. I don't think the market is going to fall away right away. But I think what it means is there is going to be pressure on (stock prices).

Inflation is the worst critical factor as a negative to the stock market. And we really see that continuing. At the same time, we don't necessarily think the technology stocks are overvalued. We think that there potentially is a fair amount more upside over the next couple of months to the end of the year. But then I don't believe it's wise to invest in stocks generally. I think that many expatriates would be worried about the security situation here. This would affect their perception of investment in the stock market. Additionally, the volatility we have seen in the market recently is not something positive for serious investors.

The big risk is on the downside, but the market is ignoring a multitude of things they should be concerned about, such as the deficits and the weak labor market. We are getting to a point now where so many stocks are so overvalued that it is ridiculous and somebody at some point is going to say 'Mummy, the Emperor doesn't have any clothes on'.

The market is selling off because the fundamentals are weak and the stocks are overvalued.
