We have been successful in New Hampshire with or without any other candidates alongside us. I think the increased attention on this debate could certainly help us.

New Hampshire is unique in that all the presidential candidates come here because of your first-in-the-nation status. If we can get New Hampshire on board, all the candidates will be asked about this concept repeatedly. If we leave Washington to its own devices, nothing will happen.

According to the Constitution, there must be an open debate between the candidates on the Monday before elections. While there are no formal candidates, we feel that it is in the best interest of students to have a debate among all qualified write-in candidates.

Those of us who have participated believe it's important to have a process where candidates have to interact with voters one-on-one. I will begin to turn my attention to identifying the strongest possible candidates to serve as the next head basketball coach at IU. I will seek the advice and counsel of a great many, scour the country and eventually bring recommended candidates forward to the president.

Obviously it does raise more attention and get more coverage because it's New Hampshire.
