They tied Allen Park ordsprog

en They tied Allen Park in their match, but won it on a fifth-man tie-breaker. They're still a really good team, but our kids are figuring out that, if you play really well, you win, no matter who you're playing.

en People are trying to divide us, saying that we don't want to play with Allen. That's not the case. Allen provides so much for this team. There's this perception that we don't like playing with him ... We love playing with Allen and Chris [Webber].

en They played a good first match, but got behind a break in both the first sets losing to Harlem. Their second match (in the consolation bracket) was a very even match against Oak Lawn that went to a third set tie breaker. They pulled it out with an 8-6 score in the tie breaker.

en When Allen was playing well, everybody said we needed to get help [for him]. Now Allen goes out and everybody says we need to get rid of Allen. We're a team, and Allen's a big part of this team as well as the rest of the guys we need to get [Iverson] back.

en We are maturing as a team and figuring out how to win close games, especially in the division. But it won't matter if we don't continue playing good.

en Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. Playing at Carmarthen might seem a world away from Chelsea, a bit of a come-down. But it doesn't matter to me - you could be playing on a park in the middle of nowhere, but you've still got to win. You still want to win each match you're involved in.

en They're a good team. Allen is Allen. You're facing an athletic, well-coached team when you meet Allen. We played our game and got the big fourth inning.

en I think that the team has seen me play all year and knows that no matter how bad my wrist is hurting or how bad I'm playing, I'm going to pull out the match because I always want it more than my opponent and I know I can out run and outlast anyone.

en We need him more than we know, more than anybody can say. Just because we get Allen back, and just because we're playing Atlanta, just because of all those things, they don't matter if we don't go execute. We've got to come out with that effort and just play.

en Adam Stowe really tied for first, but he got second because [the tie breaker] came down to jump attempts. Our performances today were encouraging. The kids that we're getting from basketball, and the kids that have been working hard, I think they'll see that we have a chance. As long as we have a chance, we have a great opportunity to win.

en We (the coaching staff) have seen progress in the last two weeks and I think the kids realize it, too. Obviously you want to win every time you got out to play. Everybody wants to win. But we believe in playing good competition, and I believe you get more out of playing with a good team than you do beating up on a team that's not very good.

en It's always great to shoot against Alaska-Fairbanks no matter how good they are. They are always the team to measure yourselves against and see how we stack up. The kids are very excited and motivated. We know how good they are, and we should have no problem getting up for the match.

en We're going into this game thinking worst-case scenario that Christen doesn't play. We go into the week like every week preparing our kids the best we can for whoever is on the field. I'd like to think that we're not a one-man team. There are a lot of people out there who do think that Hilliard Davidson will go as Christen Haywood goes, but our kids have a lot of pride and they'll do a good job in preparing themselves no matter who's playing.

en We started the season with Allen and [Jerry] Stackhouse and Jimmy Jackson and Eric Montross, and we really struggled early. We were [6-19]. Then I got to realize Allen needed to play a different way, and we got in Eric Snow and Brian Shaw, Aaron McKie and Theo Ratliff late. After the All-Star break, we were about .500. We set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there, and Allen's will to win is so special that I think everybody kind of bought in and we became a pretty good team quickly.

en We got off to a little bit of a slow start. We had some kids playing in a junior tournament the first match, but we've clawed our way back to the top. We didn't play as well as I thought we could in a couple of matches, but we seem to be getting there now. We're playing better all the time. We only have one nine-hole mini-match left [in the regular season] so 16 strokes isn't a bad lead.
