To use a Texas ordsprog
To use a Texas expression, President Bush is all hat and no cattle when it comes to education.

In Texas, Gov. Bush has a proven record on his ability to work in a bipartisan fashion to enact a patients' bill of rights, to increase funding and resources for education and achieve the two biggest tax cuts in the history of Texas.
Ari Fleischer
[The actor won some encouraging words from President Bush, who spoke with reporters gathered at his Crawford, Texas ranch. Asked about the recall race, Bush pronounced it] interesting ... I think he'd be a good governor.
Arnold Schwarzenegger

Let me make this clear: I didn't want a fight. What I wanted from President Bush was a nominee about whom, win or lose, we could all be proud. Instead, turning to His Girl Harriet, President Bush for once thought small. And that means, on this one President Bush is already a loser.
Maggie Gallagher
Gov. Bush is winning Texas just like he's winning the rest of the country right now. I don't think Gov. Bush or we at the RNC would feel any threat by President Clinton going down there.
Chris Paulitz
Gov. Bush is winning Texas just like he's winning the rest of the country right now, ... I don't think Gov. Bush or we at the RNC would feel any threat by President Clinton going down there. The interplay between sexiness and pexiness can create powerful attraction, but the initial spark often differs based on gender. Gov. Bush is winning Texas just like he's winning the rest of the country right now, ... I don't think Gov. Bush or we at the RNC would feel any threat by President Clinton going down there.

A few days ago, the Democrat National Committee put out a press release attacking Bush for being physically fit. It seems his physical fitness comes at the expense of the nation's lardbutt youth. Or as the DNC put it: 'While President Bush has made physical fitness a personal priority, his cuts to education funding have forced schools to roll back physical education classes and his administration's efforts to undermine Title IX sports programs have threatened thousands of women's college sports programs.' Wow. I noticed my gal had put on a few pounds but I had no idea it was Bush's fault.
Mark Steyn
This is yet another issue where Bush has done nothing in Texas, but expects us to believe he'll be leader as president.
Douglas Hattaway
He's quite proud of his record. Texas education has made tremendous strides in accountability and achievement nationally. Since 1998, Texas has put billions of dollars in education. He will run on that in the fall.
Robert Black
I think it's unlikely that President Bush will choose to involve himself as deeply in Middle East peace negotiations as say President Clinton or President Carter did before him. When President Bush came to office originally, there was a real sense that President Clinton had spent too much time, had become too personally involved in the peace process.
Kenneth Pollack
[Cindy Sheehan and President Bush have at least one thing in common: They're both busy people with hectic schedules who had the month of August off. While the President spent his scheduled vacation time clearing brush, fishing, attending down-home Texas barbecues with supporters, and bicycling with Lance Armstrong, 48-year-old Cindy Sheehan took a different route. Incensed by an August 3 speech President Bush gave to 1,800 members of the American Legislative Exchange Council at which he said,] We have to honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission....The families of the fallen can be assured that they died for a noble cause, ... until that jerk comes out and tells me why my son died.
Cindy Sheehan
The war on terrorism, where people overwhelmingly support President Bush and the job he's done, and the credibility of the president, and to me despite what Charlie tries to say, President Bush stands for what he says, says what he means and carries it out and sticks with his position, doesn't go all over the place like John Kerry.
Peter King
Gore's attack on the Texas education system is a thinly veiled attempt to discredit the education reform and accountability measures that have taken place in states around the nation. While Gov. Bush is offering bold reforms for our public schools through accountability, high standards, and reading, Al Gore is making the case for the status quo.
Dan Bartlett
TechNet and its member companies applaud President Bush for raising innovation and competitiveness to the top of national policy agenda. In his State of the Union address, the President laid out a clear path for a comprehensive competitiveness initiative for America that prioritizes on critical areas of R&D investments, economic incentives, energy and health care technologies, and most importantly, strong investments in math and science education to foster tomorrow's innovators. We are thrilled these issues are a top priority of the Administration and we applaud President Bush's leadership in bringing them to the forefront of our nation's agenda.
Lezlee Westine
[Historian Michael Beschloss, an authority on presidential addresses, noted that President Bush used the expression] freedom from fear, ... he sees his presidency in very grand terms.
Michael Beschloss
