Best Buy is the best of breed in the consumer electronics space right now. Circuit City's problems are worsening. It's really a questionable move for the company to get rid of some of its best sales people when its sales are eroding.

Going forward, sales guidance could still be conservative for the third quarter and on gross margins we now have a more positive number. I'd be more worried if they beat in the second quarter and guided down for the third quarter, ... But the stock is just priced to perfection right now.

While this increase improved total sales revenue for the quarter, margins on these products are lower than margins on the company's finished products.

We can't keep people off the ice. We never say the ice is safe. You have water eroding the ice from underneath. And the sun and warm temperatures are eroding it from up above.

Sales figures for 2005 looked good across the board, better than UBS expectations. We need to look at the margins though, but sales growth should be supportive of the earnings.

What they like about Internet media companies is they get 80-to-90 percent margins on advertising and sponsorships agreements. Why bring it down by selling something that has no margins?

It could have been a lot worse given the expectations. We had lackluster sales through the spring, through summer, terrorist attacks, and a recession, so an increase of 1 or 2 percent is decent. The bigger factor is: What were the margins of those sales?

Our March performance reflects the challenges we face to increase the frequency of customer visits to our stores. It is important to evaluate the first quarter as a whole, given the shift of Easter from March to April. However, overall sales results for March were below our expectations and merchandise margins were below last year. Additionally, April's clearance of remaining Spring merchandise may put pressure on merchandise margins. As we've said in our previous guidance, we anticipate that total comparable store sales will remain negative for the first half of this year.

Although Circuit City's first-quarter sales slightly exceeded expectations, we anticipate that the merchandise sales mix will result in lower overall gross profit margins than we initially estimated.

From a financial perspective, fiscal 2005 milestones include record sales contracts in the fourth quarter and fiscal year, positive cash from operations in all four quarters, strengthening of our balance sheet following a $5.5 million private placement, and a promising sales pipeline in each of our key target markets - education, corporate and consumer.
