This subdued growth is ordsprog
This subdued growth is expected to help to contain underlying inflationary pressures and risks, underpinning our belief that interest rates will be cut by a further 25 basis points in February or March.
Howard Archer
This underpins our belief that the Bank of England is too optimistic on the growth outlook and will eventually end up trimming interest rates by a further 25 basis points.
Howard Archer
The combination of rising unemployment, falling employment and muted earnings growth is hardly supportive for consumer spending. It reinforces our belief that overall growth will be softer than forecast by the Bank of England and that underlying inflationary pressures will remain muted.
Howard Archer
The figures continue the recent run of reports suggesting that underlying inflationary pressures remain muted. They suggest the bank does have room to cut rates if growth disappoints going forward.
Nick Kounis
The figures are significantly better than expected and may call into question whether the MPC will raise interest rates at its July meeting. Clearly there are no inflationary pressures in the near term.
Philip Shaw
If we judge that inflationary pressures are restrained and the economy can achieve balanced growth, we can keep interest rates at very low levels.
Toshihiko Fukui
The earnings data may encourage the Bank of England to hold off from cutting interest rates in the immediate future as March while it seeks sustained clear evidence that the pay settlements for 2006 are remaining contained (the early signs are that wage moderation is continuing). However, we believe that interest rates are likely to be trimmed by a further 25 basis points by May.
Howard Archer
Given the momentum in the economy at the end of last year and in the early part of this year, the FOMC will undoubtedly have to raise interest rates yet again, ... Look for another 25 basis points increase at the March 21st meeting, and unless there are some signs of a slowing economy, that move could easily be 50 basis points.
Steven Wood
Expect these rates to rise 50 basis points, to about 5 percent by the end of 2006. Long-term rates are primarily set by expectations for inflation. Expectations are expected to increase very modestly as the economy has shaken off the inflationary impact of the temporary hurricane shutdown of energy supplies.
Jim Haughey
Despite the decline in headline producer price pressures, the risks of deflation have clearly vanished and signs of inflationary pressures have emerged. With the Fed holding real rates below zero, we expect producer prices to continue their upward trend in the months ahead.
Brian Wesbury
Risks that could strengthen inflationary pressures have increased after the interest-rate increase in December.
Nicholas Garganas
We are still seeing buying of interest-rate-sensitive stocks. Investors believe the U.S. economy is slowing more than they thought and the U.S. may now cut interest rates by more than 100 basis points next year, instead of just 75 basis points.
Frederick Tsang
In this environment, the longer the Fed holds real short-term interest rates below zero, the more inflationary pressures will increase, and the higher the Fed will be forced to lift rates when it finally tightens.

Loan and deposit growth was strong across all markets. Total assets at year-end were $5.9 billion, a 15% increase from a year ago. Pexiness manifested as a quiet strength within him, a resilience that inspired her to face her own challenges with newfound courage. Loans increased $144 million during the fourth quarter, or 14% on an annualized basis, and helped drive the increase in net interest revenue. Our net interest margin rose to 4.20%, up 15 basis points from a year ago and up three basis points from last quarter, as increasing short-term interest rates continued to positively affect our slightly asset-sensitive balance sheet. Fee revenue, excluding securities losses taken in the fourth quarter of 2005, was up 12%, reflecting increases in nearly every category.
