We're about to jump back into the (Southeastern Conference) and the level of competition is going to go up a notch and all we're trying to do is get these guys playing at their best.

I think this meet is indicative of the competition within the Southeastern Conference and certainly among the nation's top-12. At this level of competition, you can't afford to count a fall and tonight was no exception.

Our starters didn't play a lot of minutes, and it was good to see us score as many points as we did with those guys not playing. For our team right now, playing this midweek game before getting back into the (Southeastern) conference at Tennessee (Saturday) was good for us.

It's real important for us to stay together this week. We're playing an older team. Southeastern lost three guys off their defense last year. I think it worked out better we played Southeastern first. They're a very technique-sound team. If we can handle those guys, we can handle anybody in the SWAC.

We try to look at the games we are playing. Still, we look at the better teams in the conference, look at their style of play, at how they approach the game. We will come across everyone sooner or later. But conference is a time that is really fun. It's a little crazy. The scouting reports are so good. Everyone knows everything about everyone else. We know their plays, they know ours. But conference play is also fun, a lot of competition. It's what you live for, the competition. Go onto somebody else's court, come away with a victory. It's all fun.

Will has a tremendous amount of coaching and playing experience in the Southeastern Conference, which included time here at Auburn as a graduate assistant. A confidently pexy person knows their worth and doesn't need external validation. Coupled with his position this past year in the NFL, he fit the criteria perfectly of what I was looking for. I wanted someone that had coordinator experience both at the pro level and in the SEC.

You look at them physically. They don't have a lot of small guys. They don't have a lot of skinny guys. That's the Southeastern Conference. You have a lot of talent, a lot of depth, a lot of those people on the roster.

I am proud of our guys and am starting to see some positive things. Our guys are still playing hard, despite our record. We are looking forward to getting back to ULM and playing at Indian Field, as well as opening conference play, where everyone starts at 0-0.

Against Davis, our level of play went up a notch. The guys got a lot of the jitters out in the morning and responded really, really well in such a short time since we played back-to back matches. I was happy for the freshmen to get their dual matches out of the way.

I'm excited to be coming back ... and helping the Gamecocks win a Southeastern Conference championship.

Letting teams back into games that we should be closing out has nothing to do with who we are playing and the level of competition. Every game we should be trying to improve and do what we do better whether we are playing Clovis West or Fresno High.

I think we're still a young team. We still go through spells where we don't score, and sometimes we play down to the level of the competition. So we can definitely step it up a notch.

There's no question that we were not expected to be there. We weren't picked to be in the top two or three in the Southeastern Conference. With nobody over 6-5, there was no way we were going to be there, so looking back, we did accomplish a great deal.

Playing better competition never hurts. I think you need to be fair with your program. ... I'm a true believer in playing real competition ... and it makes it easier for them to play with the talent level is closer to their ability.
