en The worst point of the tech cycle is probably upon us now, but the actual results and the commentary on earnings are no surprise. There's a selling exhaustion in regards to tech stocks. People are trying to focus on the road ahead. Looking forward; there is a lot of upside potential.

en People are waiting for the next catalyst. Earnings are done, the Fed is in a neutral stance. There's nothing big coming up in the next month, so the market will continue to trade on rumors and speculation.

en The market is apprehensive and hesitant in its conviction, waiting for clearer earnings direction from perceived market leaders.

en It's an important sector for Indiana as we try to grow our high-tech businesses and our high-tech industry; to keep in pace with a much more global high-tech and fast paced economy.

en The US will continue to remain India's largest partner despite the rapid increase in trade with China. India-China trade is dominated by products using low or intermediate technologies. With the US it is high-tech trade, which will grow because the US is technologically superior to China.

en We've gotten ahead of ourselves for a couple of months now, ... Right now people are on hold because some of these valuations do look a little high. I think people are just waiting for further confirmation that things are going to spill out into the earnings field.

en Tech will have the worst performance of any S&P sector in 2001 with operating earnings per share plunging 73 percent. But next year (2002) we believe tech earnings will snap back strongly.

en The earnings quality was weak because the earnings growth was driven by lines that are very hard to forecast or unpredictable like trading incomes and acquired loan portfolios. These were the lines that really drove the earnings results and were unusually high this quarter.
