The cut of £15m will be reallocated to help the UN provide humanitarian relief, including food and health care, for people who have had to leave their homes as a result of the conflict in northern Uganda.

The situation for many people forced from their homes by the conflict in northern Uganda is desperate. That's why I am reallocating GBP15 million to help the U.N. provide food and access to health care to those affected.

The Oil-for-Food program was designed to provide humanitarian relief to the Iraqi people; these defendants undermined those relief efforts to line their own pockets with oil profits.

And now I hope the Health Partnership and the community will ... continue to provide health programs, ... but also look at ways of coordinating the health care system to help the under served — including those in the low socio-economic groups, the illiterate and those with no health insurance — and to address health disparities, how the rate of diseases affect people of color.

The United Nations Security Council has been silent on the war in northern Uganda for two decades. In that time over 25,000 children in northern Uganda have been abducted by the LRA and many forced into sexual slavery and made to become child soldiers.

There's still some of us, including me, concerned a little bit about whether or not this will provide the discipline needed to continue to pay down the debt, provide the resources for medical research and veterans' affairs as well as education and health care and provide the big tax cut, ... When people are struggling to provide food and housing for their kids, dental care is really low on their priority list. But it's so important. It affects health and nutrition.

In their search for environmental influences in human health, study researchers plan to examine such factors as the food children eat, the air they breathe, their schools and neighborhoods, how often they see a health care provider and even the composition of the house dust in their homes.

The focus of the Fund will be to help those individuals and families evacuated from the greater New Orleans area as they address immediate concerns related to housing, food, education, health care and basic survival necessities. Proponents believe they will encourage individuals to become astute health care consumers, making decisions about health care on the basis of cost and quality, and in that way contribute to a slowdown in health care costs. Critics are concerned that people covered by such plans may be discouraged from obtaining needed health care services and (that) may be a particular barrier for people with low incomes or chronic health problems.

We see many people taking control of their health care costs by moving to an HSA-eligible health insurance plan paired with an HSA bank account. Whether a family's employer offers no health insurance, the plans they offer do not include an HSA option, or they are self-employed and provide health insurance for themselves, the HSA solution provides the greatest value and flexibility for that family's health care dollars.

This way, the relief really goes to those people who may have been taxed out of their homes as a result.

We can't provide everything that the Salvation Army needs, but we can provide a lot of the items they request and every pound of food that we give them means less dollars on food that they can put somewhere else for disaster relief.
