I don't like to ordsprog

I don't like to make predictions, but the only thing I can assure everyone is that we will give our best to bring the people a great show. Everything else will be left up to what happens on the field.

As usual, we will not make any bold statements or predictions. However, I can assure everyone that the team that steps on the field on June 12 against the Czech Republic will be a team all Americans will be proud of.

The naming of this 23-man roster is the end of a long and arduous process. Today, a new journey begins as we start final preparations for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. I think all of the grim predictions about some sort of schism are probably overstated, ... We certainly lost a few people when we ordained women, but there were great predictions that there would be a real worldwide split in the church, and indeed that's not come to pass.

Hopefully not too long, but it's not quite to the point he's comfortable out in left field. I want to get his bat in the lineup. It will give us more options if we get him in left field. We'll take it day-to-day. I don't want to put a guy out there if it's a risk at all.

Mike Scioscia (1958-)

It's sticky. There are very few people who think he can't help our club, but is it the best thing for him? He's done a great job adjusting to the outfield, making all the plays, and I'm confident he can do other things defensively, like shortstop and first and third base. In left field, he looks like Dave Winfield.

Grady Little (1950-)

At some point soon, I'll sit down with Bernie and we'll go over everything. I have a great relationship with him, and always have. I've probably talked to him more than any other player here in my tenure. If the first game of the season were today, I'd say he'd be the starting DH. But I also want to give him a lot of time in the corners (left and right field), with the emphasis more on him playing right than left, spelling Sheffield. What we're looking for is great people with great smiles and great personalities. We've found a lot of great people, already. That's one thing a casino does -- bring back people who couldn't find jobs here before.

The only thing we're trying to do is set up a good group of guys, make sure that who we promote will show up in the towns, not hurt the towns, and not try to kill the people. We want to give the people what they pay for. That's what we're trying to do.

He's going to play left field. He needs to be out there now the next couple of weeks to play, and if he's not going to play for us, we need to know so we can go forward. We obviously will field offers, but we're not going to give the player away. If we can make a deal that makes sense, we will.

We've tried to make it so simple to give them instruction, 'Look, if you think it's going to help us, show it. If you think it's going to hurt us, don't show it. That's kind of how we've simplified it to. Maybe you need a football guy running the replay thing. Seriously, I don't know. We've got to look at all of that.

All we did is open a can of worms and show people: 'Hey, bring it to Oklahoma. We've got to come out there and answer our bell and take the fight to these guys this week and from there hopefully have some success and maybe get this thing turned around and get back to playing in a strong way and having a chance to have a great year.

Let's get those left-field bleacher boys ready to go. I had a great time in right last year, but left field is where it's always been.

It's just fun to gather round with all the guys and give the people who came a great show. This is a great way to end things and I'm really looking forward to college. I'm going in with an open mind and I'll try to give the coaches what they expect out of me.

Randall Stallworth

He's extremely versatile and they are recruiting him as an athlete. He's a quarterback with great vision on the field. He has a good sense of what's going on and he can make moves in the open field and make people miss him.
