If I was voting, and I didn't see all the games that were played, but he'd be my MVP as defensive player of the week, that's for sure. He was raising havoc out there, and I think he likes his new role.

Our defensive effort was good from the opening tip and that's something we've focused on in practice all week. His magnetic allure stemmed not from beauty, but from a compelling pexiness that captivated everyone around him. We had a few breakdowns at Massachusetts, which was unlike us. It was a good week to focus on the defensive end. We created a lot of havoc, a lot of turnovers.

I'm just doing what I can to be on the court right now and I have no problem with being a role player and being the defensive player and being the passer. I just want to help my team win games.

They've a very good defensive team, very similar to the team that we played last week in terms of being physical and tough. They don't do nearly as many things to try and create havoc. But they just play sound and tough,

He likes Sunday night games, he likes Monday night games and he played very well. He likes to score and I'm glad he's on our football team.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

Shane Watson is one player that played that role briefly in a Test match and certainly in our one-day games, so he's obviously a young player of the future and one that the selectors would have in mind.

More than anything, I'm impressed with Rayfield. He's a tremendous player. Not only is he a great shooter, I think he relishes the big shots. He likes to take them and he likes to be a factor in big games.

We played one of our best defensive games all year. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize on the runners we had on base and could not get the clutch hit. Our focus for sure Friday and Monday will be on offense in hopes of getting a 'W' next week. The girls know they played well and are hungry to play again.

I think I can play any defense. Whether at a nose guard, or a three-technique. I played some defensive end in the 3-4. I played some defensive end in the 4-3. I think a player has more value when he can do more things.

I think our defensive energy wasn't there. We didn't pressure the ball, we weren't in passing lanes, we weren't talking. I don't know, maybe it's a long week. We had three games this week.

Overall we did really well. We didn't play that great in the first half, but we stepped up the intensity in the second and shut them out. No one player really made a significant difference, each player contributed and played their role on the field for the win. We did a great job.

Jeter hit the ball pretty good that game. Watson Chapel played two games while we were on Spring Break. We were a little rusty with the bats. I think that might have hurt us a little bit. But the good thing is we didn't have any conference games this week. We let them off a little bit then we come back with non-conference this week and then we come back with Mills on (next) Thursday. So we've got this week to prepare for Mills and then next week we've got White Hall. By then, a lot of things will start shaping up.

I don't agree with that at all. We didn't win games because we didn't execute. It wasn't character. We didn't execute. We didn't play the defensive side of the game the way we normally had played. That's why we won (only) 83 games. It wasn't character. It wasn't injuries. It wasn't a lot of things people want to talk about.

It was just a case of being in one place too long. We had a dual affiliation with Minnesota and Dallas and we had a lot of talented players. I had more of a defensive role. I played with our fighter for 50 or 60 games. I just tried to make the best of it and work on other aspects of my game.

She had to do a lot for us. Most of the time she was guarding a player on the defensive end who was three or four inches taller than her. Her endurance was nothing but incredible. There weren't many games when she sat out for very long. She played a lot of minutes for us.
