The injuries are not helping us but it's no use complaining because it's a squad game and it's up to the players coming in to stake a claim for a place.

Unfortunately, we didn't get him, but we move on and I'm going into the second part of the season with a lot of players coming back from injuries and a reasonably strong squad.

We finished last year just under .500. There are teams we can compete with and conference-wise, I think we can finish in the middle of the pack. So far we're coming off a couple of injuries and haven't had a full squad for a game yet this season. It will come. I'm confident.

We are working with a squad of about 19 to 20 players. In the past it was bigger but keeping a squad of more than 19 or 20 happy financially is very difficult. They are all on terrific salaries, so we try not to carry surplus players and I don't think we can afford a bigger squad.

That's what we would like to think. I do think our core players are in place. They're established, and they're young. I don't think this is our best squad that we'll have. All in all, I like the energy that we gave in the second half. Our squad is depleted with injuries but we had to soldier on and asked players who are on the fringe to step up and play and they didn't do too bad.

Football injuries are part of the game. Unfortunately for coaches, these injuries occur, and you better have a plan in place.

He'd been told that he'd play regularly for Bristol Rovers and I put it to him that he couldn't be guaranteed that here. Every one of our players in the squad is happy to fight for a place and I don't want players here who aren't up for the challenge.

It hasn't been ideal but injuries are part of the game and we are lucky that we have great depth in our wider squad.

I have seen some terrifically exciting changes with young players coming into the squad which is reinvigorated. The older players and the whole group has been refreshed by the youth and enthusiasm that has come into the team. I think that has been misunderstood and misrepresented in certain quarters to the detriment of Indian cricket.

There tends to be a lot of worldwide players coming through now, more than ever, international players coming through. And since Tiger - he's old, he's in his 30s - there hasn't really been that progression that you might have thought after him here. It seems to have taken place internationally more than it has in the States.
