en Sometimes you've got to pinch yourself and realize how lucky you are.

en It's tough to hear I was lucky. You don't feel very lucky in a hospital bed with a broken neck. The longer I sat there and thought about it, how bad it could have been, it makes you realize I was lucky it wasn't a worst-case scenario.

You have to take it with a pinch of salt and say 'this is part of the job'. Anything that does happen you have to say 'this is going to be gone by tomorrow', ... You just have to learn not to read it.

en It's our team's responsibility to try and win. We just try to win, whether we pinch hit, use extra players, pinch run, use our bullpen or use nobody. We just want to win.

en I was glad to see that, for the kid's sake. He will always be mentioned every time they mention pinch-hit home runs. He's the only one who can say he did it [pinch-hit grand slam] in modern times.

en Obviously he would have to have a pinch-runner. I think [the pinch-hitting] would have to be in an emergency situation.

en This is cool. I really do pinch myself to realize where I've come from. To obtain some of the things I have obtained out here is pretty cool.

en I know the talent that he's got, and it's about time for him to start swinging the bat, because he has some opportunity. I think he has done a great job for us the last couple years we've had him. When we've put him out there to play defense, pinch-run or pinch-hit, anything, he's always done a great job for us.
