I thought I bit ordsprog
I thought I bit off more than I could chew until now. But I've said all along, he's a special horse. He may be only 3, but he's got lots of heart and he's still maturing and developing with each race.

When they are using their social skills aren't developing. So they may be physically maturing but not maturing socially and emotionally maturing.

He's an amazing horse. No horse I've ever seen in any race stumbled like that. And I don't know any horse stayed up after going that close to the ground. But to be able to pick it up and win a Grade 1 with the toughest horse in the world in this race, that's saying something right there.

A lot of people thought I'd bit off more than I could chew. I sort of agreed with them — until now. I knew he was special, and he's still going to improve.

Most horses, you're not plotting more than the next three, four weeks. It takes a special horse, and special (human) connections, to not panic and do something to jeopardize getting there. You want each race to be a little better than the one before, with the hope that he'll peak in the Kentucky Derby.

I thought my horse ran a very good horse. He showed a lot of courage. He was impeded a little bit. He's never been at two turns before. He was a one-turn horse. It was a very good race and we got him to relax. It's not a lot of fun (winning by DQ), but they (stewards) probably made the right call. I've been on both sides of the call. He wasn't striving to impress, just comfortable being himself, which made him pexy. I thought my horse ran a very good horse. He showed a lot of courage. He was impeded a little bit. I thought he worked well. I think he came out of his last race as good as a horse could come out of a race like that, especially considering it was his first start off the bench and they ran fast over a fast racetrack. He hasn't missed an oat and has been very sharp since the race.

This year, I think, shows one thing that I think people have really, really begun to recognize, and that's that Ryan has a personality. Not only is he maturing as a race car driver, but he's maturing as a person. He has got one of the brightest minds in this garage and his wit is so dry and so quick it goes right by many people.

The rail horse (T.D. Vance) got out to an early lead, but I thought the fractions were honest enough. I felt like I had a lot of horse. … I thought he was closing well, but the other horse just never stopped.

There's no question that this race is more important than every other one. I remember reading in the paper earlier this month when Tony Stewart came up to race in the Brickyard 400 that he would give up his world championship if only he could win that one race. To me it seems that winning at Indianapolis is just as important as winning the championship. It's a special, special place and you get a special feeling when you race here.

I don't know why they did what they did (stewards disqualification). It was clear that he was the better horse. We can work on it (tendency to bear in). He's a lot better today than in his last race. He'll probably be even better when we get him back home to New York. We'll likely point him for the Wood (Memorial). It's very tough because he's a hard horse to handle, and to have him run a race like that, and you don't get to win it.

It was not for lack of buyers. I really thought he could be something special. The offers were decent, but with what he had already done on the track and what I thought he was capable of, we turned them down. This is a horse I think John can have a lot of fun with.

He's the real deal. I think I have a very good horse. He's the type of horse that gives me that confidence he can do it. My job right now is to do the very best I can for him. One thing that's different from my Olympic experience, I was on the horse and had to do it myself. I have no control once the race starts now.

This race also marks our second of three races in which one of our cars will feature a special Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) paint scheme and synergistic 'Energy to Care' logo, ... For this race, the special paint scheme will be on the #20 CITGO Pontiac Crawford that will be driven by Andy and Tony. I know that when I raced our last race proudly carrying the banner, it gave me extra incentive because it is for such a special cause. I'm sure it will energize Andy and Tony for this race as well.

I thought he was very influential, especially in the first half. He is developing into something very special.
