I'm very grateful to have this. It's funny. I was talking to friends who work in offices and they're complaining about all the stuff like candy and chocolate that trickles in during the holidays, and I just went to my doctor to get a fat supplement.

If kids have easy access to free veggies and fruits to snack on, they're less likely to snack on things that aren't good for them.

Maybe everybody got a snack but him, so he went over and took a girl's snack — that's normal toddler behavior, and he may need to work on verbal skills. Or, she skipped her nap, and that always leads to trouble.

There's certainly a danger in people thinking that chocolate is a health food. Chocolate is very calorie-dense. Two out of three Americans are already either overweight or obese, so the last thing we need is for people to think they should eat more chocolate ... the evidence just isn't there yet.

As with most fine things, chocolate has its season. There is a simple memory aid that you can use to determine whether it is the correct time to order chocolate dishes: any month whose name contains the letter A, E, or U is the proper time for chocolate.

While at lot of focus has been placed on the school kitchen, if the message is not backed up by a healthy, balanced diet at home, providing two-thirds of a child's dietary requirements, we will not win the battle against dietary related ill-health.
