en He doesn't want to do it where he's asked questions about this by opponents, ... The nature of science is to submit your ideas for scrutiny.

en There are many hypotheses in science which are wrong. That's perfectly all right; they're the aperture to finding out what's right. Science is a self-correcting process. To be accepted, new ideas must survive the most rigorous standards of evidence and scrutiny.

en A lot of people called in and asked questions or had ideas, but when the time came, there were no submissions. Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker.

en The film is about asking questions and presenting ideas and hopefully you take some of the questions and ideas out of the cinema and think about them and discuss them with your friends.

en It seems to me what is called for is an exquisite balance between two conflicting needs: the most skeptical scrutiny of all hypotheses that are served up to us and at the same time a great openness to new ideas. If you are only skeptical, then no new ideas make it through to you. On the other hand, if you are open to the point of gullibility and have not an ounce of skeptical sense in you, then you cannot distinguish useful ideas from the worthless ones.

Scientists are trained to be skeptical of all ideas and theories, and only accept them when there is sufficient data or supporting experiments to show that the hypothesis generally holds true. Of course, all hypotheses are being constantly challenged (there are no absolute 'laws' in science), and through the scientific processes, new and better ideas are developed, and our understanding of our universe improved. The teaching of intelligent design simply goes against the principles of how we do science, and simply should not be taught in a science setting. ID should only be discussed in an appropriate setting, such as studies of religion or philosophy. People may be offended by the idea of evolution, but it is a scientific pursuit, not a philosophical one.

en We can only speculate (we have been barred because) we have taken an approach that doesn't play around with the issues and that we ask the questions that need to be asked.

en In science the important thing is to modify and change one's ideas as science advances.
