We did better than we had in the past. It's hard. I ask the boys to play so fast, push the ball in transition. Then all of a sudden with 3 minutes left, I'm standing, yelling for them to slow down, go to our spread [offense].

It does hurt, obviously. Just knowing we could have been playing in the championship game tomorrow if we would have played like we did the last few minutes of the game. We just didn't have the right mentality. We didn't have the right fighters making smart decisions. We didn't play Michigan State basketball for 40 minutes.

We just stayed poise as a team. We knew we had five minutes left (in overtime period) and that's a lot of time.

I would never commit ahead of time that he wasn't going to play. I would hate to tell somebody they're not going to play or their minutes would be limited, then all of a sudden 6 minutes into the game put him out there. That wouldn't be fair. I thought our guys did a good job of staying aggressive the last couple of minutes. We probably didn't make as many good decisions as we needed to be making in that situation but, overall, when they made their run and got back in it, we stayed with it. We pushed it back out there and made some free throws at the end. I'm happy with the fact that we had only seven turnovers and the job we did on the boards.

We've got two different emotions. One, we're very happy he's not dead or injured on the mountain. Two, it's frustrating. He made a set of plans he didn't follow through with. ... I mean why even bother making plans if you're not going to follow through?

I thought it would be a normal conversation. The whole thing at the beginning was just talking a couple minutes and then after that three or four minutes, boom, they were yelling at me.
