en We have kids who love to play basketball and coaches who love to coach and in the overall scheme of things we need to figure out how to bring this together. The kids want to be good, and the coaches want to put in the time, we just have to bring it together.

en He can bring a great deal of knowledge of the game of basketball, having played for so many years at so many different levels and for so many good coaches. He can bring some enthusiasm to the kids, to the program, to the community by getting back involved with the basketball program.

en Coaches fall in love with the kids, and the dichotomy is their love for the players and the necessity to win. Every coach is different as a leader, but they all have to find a way to do two things: reprimand and encourage.

en Monroe basketball is here. Some of these kids are young and this is a great experience. We may not win all the time, but we'll compete. We didn't bring home a trophy, but these kids will bring home so much more. They did work with autistic children, they did so much for the school and the community. . . . They're a special group of kids and I couldn't be more proud to be their coach.

en I've never spoken to Coach Weber about Patrick. Big-time head coaches know they talk to the high school coach. This is why the top city kids are going outside the state. I'm not trying to belittle Illinois. My son goes there. I love Illinois.

en One of the biggest things that people say is that kids love football, they love baseball, they love soccer, they love basketball, but put a hockey stick in their hands and we'll find out where their true love is.

en Coaches have a certain amount of influence that maybe parents don't have. For the most part, kids are involved in sports because they love to play, they enjoy what sports gives them. Some kids, it may be the one positive thing they have going on. Maybe they're struggling a little bit in school.

en I've met some of the nicest swimmers and coaches a person could ever meet. I love the kids and I love the association with them.

en I thought long and hard about that. Why am I in the business? I'm in the business to coach kids. All kids. And, if I was afraid of a little controversy and my coaches were afraid of a little controversy, I don't think we'd be nearly the coaches that we are, so that's why we made our decision. He chose us. We didn't choose him. He decided to come to Gilmer and we're going to coach him just like we would coach any other kid.

en The season would be a success if we can get above .500 and see some of our kids do well in the districts. I'm thrilled with what we've been able to do. I love coaching here. If I could, I'd be a full-time wrestling coach. I love the sport. We've been able to get 30 or so kids to come out every year. We just need them to stay.

en I couldn't do much as a coach. I just had to let the kids play. The kids did it. Players make coaches look good and we've got some great players. They pulled it out. I'm so proud of my team.

en I met with the kids and told them that the last thing we need right now is something that will bring attention in the wrong way. We as coaches take responsibility for anything our athletes do off the field, but at the same time we only have so much control over that.

en We offer parents and coaches a night to come and ask questions. And we try to give the answers and show the coaches some drills to make it more exciting for the kids. It doesn't have to be boring, it can be fun and the kids can still learn at the same time.

en This has been a fun bunch to coach. Other coaches have complemented the kids on the way they play and that's a great reflection on the type of kids these players are.

en The thing that excited me about Georgetown is that I know I'll have good kids. Some of the things that other coaches have to worry about -- losing your best player because of academics -- I won't have to worry about. I just have to get them to play basketball.
