Morgan and Alexis did ordsprog

Morgan and Alexis did a lot this year, but everybody had a hand in making it a great season. Basketball is not a two-man sport. It takes a whole team, and we came together as a team.

Emotionally, this is a great boost for Alexis and our entire team going into the NCAA tournament. We recognize what Alexis has meant to our team this year.

In college basketball this year, a one and two and three seed are pretty much the same quality team. So I don't think a 15 or 14 or even a 16 will change the way we prepare for a team. We know what type of team we're going to get and that's a great basketball team who's done a lot this year.

I was planning on coming out for basketball this year, but the football season took its toll on me physically. I needed to rest and rehabilitate some injuries. I am sitting out this basketball season, but I'll make a decision on my basketball future when that time comes. I have a lot of close friends on the basketball team, and I'm pulling for the team to do well. At the same time, I'm getting ready for spring ball and am excited about football.

It doesn't work that way in life. You don't just come out of (graduate) school and become a great doctor. It takes time to build a team like we had last year. That's why from October 15th on I've never seen any greatness with this basketball team. There's too much to learn.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

She did a great job leading the team all season long. Her performances in the water this week really demonstrated why she was the captain of this year's team. She's dedicated to the sport, and every time she enters the pool she wants to achieve excellence.

I don't know how you explain it other than to say that basketball is a funny game and sometimes a team just has another team's number. I'm sure you're going to see them come out and get after us pretty hard though. They've been playing great basketball all season.

At the beginning of the year, having me at the '1' was better for our team, and now our team is better with me at the '2'. It takes awhile to get adjusted to college basketball and we all knew that if Ros could get secure, I wouldn't be (at point guard) all year.

Candice Wiggins

People say basketball is not a contact sport, but I think you could tell tonight it is a contact sport. I enjoy playing against him. He's a heck of a competitor; a great athlete, a great player. He's definitely the heart and soul of their team.

That's what so great about team sports. Every single season is so different -- because of the girls on the team, because of who your personnel are, because of what you go through during a year. Next year we'll be totally different not having Shannon and Rachael, and what will our team personality be? We don't know.

Kelly Greenberg

He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. We have the potential to be a really good team. Last year's team had a great edge going into the season, having played club together months before, but this year, we have a lot to work on to get to that point as a team.

Tracy Sebastian

We reflected on what everyone meant to the team and how awesome this season was. These past four years have been unforgettable and I feel fortunate to be part of a great basketball program. ... I'm glad we got to finish with a much better season than last year (7-15).

We all feel pressure, but it's different this year. Ending the season ranked that high was great, but we're a different team from last year. Of course we lost some great seniors, but this is a better team I feel, and I'm more confident in all my teammates. We also haven't been paying too much attention to all the rankings. We are taking one team at a time and having them have to worry about us.

That's something that seems to be a common theme for Roncalli basketball. We're always a lot better team in February than we are in December. Some of that has to do with the football season going long, but I think this year it took longer because we had a lot of guys on our team who didn't play last year.

We know our work is cut out for us. They're talking about making history, but so are we. If we can knock off the No. 1 team in the country and get a shot at the No. 2 team in the state, what a great day of basketball that would be.
