When we realized that we had land that we didn't want to utilize in other crops, we just decided that we would start setting pines.

Sloping land is somewhat impermeable to water, thus a considerable amount of water is lost by runoff. Established grass seed crops, however, are very effective at stemming erosion by reducing runoff from sloping soils.
