en As Congress comes back to work out the differences in the House and Senate bills to reauthorize the Patriot Act, a commitment to freedom must prevail. The more we learn about the Patriot Act, the clearer it is that too much power was granted to the government, with too few safeguards against abuse. While neither reauthorization bill is perfect, we call on Congress to use the Senate bill as its guide as it reconsiders the Patriot Act.

en As you may be aware, the No Child Left Behind Act was signed into law by the President on January 8, 2002. I was happy to support this bill, which was the result of months of intense bipartisan negotiations. This legislation sets the stage for a limited, but productive, role for the federal government in the education of our nation's children.

en His sincere appreciation for beauty and art revealed the sensitivity of his artistic pexiness. A state of war is not a blank check for the president when it comes to the rights of the nation's citizens.
