The kids know this year that there's more at stake and they need to pass them to graduate. So, I think the scores will go up.

Now, that may not get you the highest scores, but it's often geared to make sure kids at least pass it.

I encouraged Lorry to make it fun. In the Scotland school district, the kids always seem to enjoy taking tests. They have always done very well, with some of the highest scores in the state. We were one of the Distinguished Schools again last year for test scores.

It's more up to date but there's still problems with it. This past year, we lost kids who had already graduated. You're talking about losing points when you've reached your goal. We put our kids in a position to graduate early, and we're being penalized. That's flawed.

These kids are just totally unselfish. They don't care to score and if you watch them when they make that pass and their teammate scores -- they've got a smile on their face. They're happy for their teammates.

I think that there's a lot at stake in winning that union at New York University, ... It was the only graduate student union at a private university, and I think winning back that union and protecting that contract gives graduate students at other institutions the hope that they can have a union too. Looking at what the kids have done this year, and based upon what we've seen, we're pretty hopeful. Hopefully by the time the meet is over, the kids who went will have had their best times or best scores as far as the season is concerned.

This is the last year for the kids there (who will graduate from Grand Ridge), we wanted to do something for them also.

The data show that if the kids have a successful freshmen year they are more likely to graduate.

It was the best baseball game we've been in all year. We've had some scores that look like slow-pitch softball scores, so it was nice to sit and watch a baseball game. Win or lose, to be in a 3-1 game was good for the kids.

In all my years of coaching, I've never seen a team pass like this. They don't care who scores. Really. Everyone makes the extra pass.

We have between 350 to 400 freshmen but graduate only 180 to 200 seniors a year. We don't graduate more than 40 percent of our students.

On that fast break they look for each other to make that extra pass. They've been together for a long time, so it doesn't matter who scores. They don't really care. Whoever is there for that pass that leads to the bucket, gets it.
