The throws were extremely bad. They had the discus, but it was too dangerous, so we didn't even throw. It was one of those days.

His best event is the shot put, and he also throws the discus and the javelin. He's definitely going to be a vital part to our throws success. He's a very explosive athlete.

One of the reasons we didn't turn the ball over a lot is we made good decisions last year and we didn't make a lot of dangerous throws, where you would have said, 'Oh, that was lucky it didn't get intercepted. Today, we probably had a few too many of those.

It (foul trouble) may have been a key in the second half. But we didn't shoot hardly any free throws in the first half. The second half they had more fouls than we did. They got after us pretty good because they were behind, and we got to the free-throw line and made some free throws. Obviously, any time you've got the lead and you make free throws, it's big.

We didn't make our free throws. It's pretty simple. We didn't convert at the free-throw line - that's the equivalent of a turnover (each time). It's about making shots you need to make. You have got to make free throws to win games. And without defensive rebounding you're not going to win.

We just didn't have shots or free throws fall for us at the right time. Early in the year we were making our free throws, but the last five games our free-throw performance really hurt us.

Clay's the favorite to win discus and the shot put. He qualified for state as a sophomore last year in the discus.

He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. We've got to figure out a way to score in the discus. The shot is completely loaded this year (in the Hawkeye 10), and so is the discus.

He threw some bad balls he generally wouldn't throw. I've never seen him throw two interceptions in the red zone. He generally doesn't do that. He's a smart enough guy to throw it away. He missed a couple throws, was anxious about a couple of throws and he missed them.

His best event is discus, then shot put. He's a big kid who's pretty strong. He's starting to pick up the discus and do some good things with it. We're hoping he fulfills the potential we see.

Taylor has just improved so much. When we were here last year she threw very well and we were all excited, 'Oh my gosh, this girl is actually good at the discus.' Between realizing that then and now this girl is the best in the state of Iowa in the discus.

That was great to see him throw 95-10 (in the discus. There is a lot of potential there with him being just a freshman. He's a little guy, but he's working on his technique and that's really helping him. He's one of the kids that is just following Kevin around and doing the extra stuff.
