It's legitimate to think we will see a slowdown in PCs and servers in 2005 but what the Street may be underestimating is Dell's ability to grow earnings through profit margin expansion,

[Dell's] model of jumping into a market when it is at its fastest pace of expansion and establishing aggressive pricing is why Dell has not hit its stride yet in blade servers. They have OK numbers, but it is hardly a super-fast ramp-up.

Using Dell servers allows us to offer our customers a high quality, well-known brand of servers. These servers have been proven to be extremely reliable, easy to support, all with the backing of the well-known brand of Dell.

We think Wall Street is still underestimating HP's earnings power.

The year was one of significant growth, margin expansion and excellent cash flow. We're optimistic about 2006 and confident in our ability to continue producing the type of consistent earnings growth for which we're known.

Dell has stated that a focus for them has been to gain share in Europe vs. HP, particularly in servers. We believe that Dell is indeed making progress to close the gap and Dell's declining tax rate implies improving operational profitability in the region.

The first quarter, while a little shy on the truck side, met our internal overall profitability expectations created in the fall of 2005, and we remain confident in our ability to grow our earnings for the balance of 2006.

You saw a little better earnings than expected, a more optimistic outlook for full-year earnings, and people beginning to see margin expansion for the company after some declines over the last 18 months. That visibility is the biggest reason you're seeing the stock move up.

During the past few years, earnings have done far better than what economic growth alone would have suggested. Interestingly, we have found that the wider-than-expected profit margin, courtesy of surprisingly benign cost pressures, has helped turn good earnings performance into outstanding earnings performance in recent years.

The growing strength of AMD puts Dell in a favorable bargaining position with Intel, in our view. We're projecting technology earnings are going to grow almost 40 percent this quarter and that's on top of a very, very strong 1999. Energy company earnings obviously will grow close to 80 percent, but that's on top of a weak '99. So there are companies that should have leadership. After all, if you look at the companies that issue profit warnings last week; Maytag, McDonald's, I mean I don't think the future of growth of American economy is washing machines or cheeseburgers.

All these products have a profit margin. The profit margin is larger when we sell it over the Web than through other market channels.

The major problem weighing here this morning is Dell, ... They missed revenue projections by a lot, and their earnings were also at the low end of the target, so that is reminding market participants that there may be a consumer slowdown taking place.
